Sequestration: Blame goes to GOP

When has Barry ever taken the blame for anything??

I haven't heard him take the blame for anything in the last four years. Doubt the next four will be any different.

It will be the fault of Bush and and the Reps doncha know??

Boooooooooooooooooosh!

President Obama today fired his press secretary for inadvertently telling the truth about the fact that the concept (this time) of sequestration came from the Obama team.

"We will have no more of that," said the President, furiously perturbed that his spokesman would tell the truth.

You're right, it's not governing. It's not governing by the right, the left, or Obama.

You May Be Right, Mr. President, But This Is Crazy - NationalJournal.com

This is SOLELY the fault of the right.

It's completely on them.

They feel its fine to spend like crazy when one of them is President and usurp power when the other side holds the reigns of power.

That's not how this country functions.

This is primarily the fault of the left. They spend in utterly massive irresponsible ways and borrow and print the money to do so, never even bothering to pretend they give a damn about a "budget."

The sequestration notion came from the President's "team" as Carney admitted (unless the President's press secretary spoke without knowing what he was blabbering about which seems unlikely since Obama never corrected him for it). It is certainly true that Boehner and the GOP majority of Congress went along with it. So they are ALSO somewhat responsible.

But the lion's share of blame goes to the liberal Democrats. They don't even BOTHER passing budgets. We spend TRILLIONs and they quibble and bitch, moan and groan about cutting maybe a few dozen billion. They fool nobody.

It would be a good START (if only a small one ) to just let the sequester happen.

Okay..I will take you to task:

The Bush administration spent lots o' Cash on:
1. Missile Defense Program.
2. Joint Strike Fighter.
3. Department of Homeland Security.
4. The Invasion of Afghanistan.
5. The Invasion of Iraq.
6. The Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit.
7. The Bush Tax Cut Part 1.
8. The Bush Tax Cut Part 2.
9. No Child Left Behind.
10. Troubled Assets Relief Program.

Those and others added around 4 trillion dollars to America's debt. That's a pretty conservative estimate, since there's no real way to audit alot of the Bush initiatives. Like cutting interest rates to zero. By most estimates, Obama's spending as added about 1 trillion dollars to America's debt.

But heck..if you can think of things he spent money on..

Feel free.

List away.

It's a simple process.

If you post something..and it's not bullshit..you can generally link the story.

Well.

Go for it.

This is solely on Obama. Like the article (You May Be Right, Mr. President, But This Is Crazy - National Journal.com) stated, Obama did not even try to get a compromise going.
He was away on vacation. He did not even try to bring anyone together.

Jesus Christ, he would have come back from vacation. Being in Washington while the GOP was unwilling to negotiate would have accomplished nothing.

American will blame the GOP. :eusa_shhh:

I doubt that... they will blame the person that was playing golf.
Obama did not act as a leader in this fiasco. They knew this was coming for at least a year and not even a hint of compromise. Sorry, that falls into the bad leadership category.

Yeah, Americans are going to listen to Obama asking Congress to find an alternate responsible spending cut bill in place of the sequester while the Republican Congress balks, and Americans will blame the President.

Why do conservatives keep on engaging in brinksmanship and not learn the lessons of losing the public relations argument? I mean, WHY go through this over, and Over, and OVER again? Don't you think that by now that Republicans have gained a reputation for being the recalcitrant child who spoils the party? This is just one MORE nail in the conservative Republican PR coffin, and you guys can't even see it coming your way. It's like night blindness or a white out or something equally inexplicable. Your political visual acuity just sucks.

Obama has added so far about SIX Trillion to our debt. Not one trillion.

The analysis by Internet commentator Rex Nutting on which Obama based his claim begins by telling us “What people forget (or never knew) is that the first year of every presidential term starts with a budget approved by the previous administration and Congress.” Not exactly.

The previous administration, or President, proposes a budget. The previous Congress approves a budget. And what Congress approves can be radically different from what the President proposes.

As Art Laffer and Steve Moore showed in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, President Bush began a spending spree in his term that erased most of the gains in reduced government spending as a percent of GDP achieved by the Republican Congress in the 1990s led by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, in conjunction with President Clinton. But for fiscal year 2009, President Bush in February, 2008 proposed a budget with just a 3% spending increase over the prior year. Fiscal year 2009 ran from October 1, 2008 until September 30, 2009. President Obama’s term began on January 20, 2009.

Recall, however, that in 2008 Congress was controlled by Democrat majorities, with Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, and the restless Senator Obama already running for President, just four years removed from his glorious career as a state Senator in the Illinois legislature. As Hans Bader reported on May 26 for the Washington Examiner, the budget approved and implemented by Pelosi, Obama and the rest of the Congressional Democrat majorities provided for a 17.9 percent increase in spending for fiscal 2009!

You should read the whole piece.

It offers some real analysis, not the propaganda you seem to favor.

Sequester was pushed through R House by Boehner, Ryan, McCain. Boehner said he got 98% of what he wanted and Ryan crowed about his "win".

OTOH, Ds did vote for it rather than suffer another credit downgrade.

Its a mess and the real point now is that the damn Rs are still refusing to cut short their vacation and come back to work.

American people are not so dumb that they don't see right through the Rs shenanigans.

Do YOURSELF a favor..and read it.

Most of it is lumping on Bush spending to Obama. Which is how you guys get to your figures.

Bush spend ALOT of money..but didn't actually PAY for anything.

He left that to the next guy.

Sequestration: Blame goes to GOP

"Obama has said he wants Congress to end tax loopholes enjoyed mainly by the wealthy to buy lawmakers enough time to pass a budget but Republicans are insisting on deeper spending cuts to reduce the $16 trillion national debt."

What is wrong with closing loopholes for the wealthy? Fair or not, it only makes it look like (or for some people it validates the argument), the GOP is shilling for the wealthy elites.

If the GOP wants cuts to programs let them name the cuts? Obama wanted taxes raise and he named the taxes he wanted raised. Why won't the GOP just be honest and open with the American people, and name the cuts they would hold America hostage for?

The latest game makes it look like they really want to force sequestration, while denying it is what they want to do. This way they get cuts without naming which ones they wanted. They are hedging bets -- betting against the American people, and betting that both parties and the President will share blame with the GOP.

This isn't governing, it's electioneering.:eusa_hand:

The PowerPoint That Proves It’s Not Obama’s Sequester After All

by John Avlon Feb 20, 2013 4:45 AM EST
Republicans have taken to calling the deep cuts that could reverse our hard-won economic recovery ‘Obama’s Sequester.’ But a July 2011 PowerPoint obtained by John Avlon shows the opposite may be true.

Democrats want Congress to come back and stop ‘sequester’

Pentagon issues furlough notice as ‘sequester’ budget cuts loom

You want them to just give in and let obama reign Hell? Fuck no (even though they have..?)
The sequestration is a bunch of BS. He made that to get bi-partisan votes for his BS Bills. And now it is blowing up in his face! I love it! If the fuckin prick thought about the whole US, we wouldn't have this problem. Maybe... lol

Playing golf? Stop listening to and reading right wing imbecility. Most normal Americans have no idea what you people rant about and share in emails and on blogs

Well of course not, they don't think for themselves. The MSM tells them what to believe. Good sheeple. Keep voting and we'll keep sending you goodies.
