Sequestration: Blame goes to GOP

Sequestration: Blame goes to GOP

"Obama has said he wants Congress to end tax loopholes enjoyed mainly by the wealthy to buy lawmakers enough time to pass a budget but Republicans are insisting on deeper spending cuts to reduce the $16 trillion national debt."

What is wrong with closing loopholes for the wealthy? Fair or not, it only makes it look like (or for some people it validates the argument), the GOP is shilling for the wealthy elites.

If the GOP wants cuts to programs let them name the cuts? Obama wanted taxes raise and he named the taxes he wanted raised. Why won't the GOP just be honest and open with the American people, and name the cuts they would hold America hostage for?

The latest game makes it look like they really want to force sequestration, while denying it is what they want to do. This way they get cuts without naming which ones they wanted. They are hedging bets -- betting against the American people, and betting that both parties and the President will share blame with the GOP.

This isn't governing, it's electioneering.:eusa_hand:

You're right, it's not governing. It's not governing by the right, the left, or Obama.

You May Be Right, Mr. President, But This Is Crazy - NationalJournal.com

This is SOLELY the fault of the right.

It's completely on them.

They feel its fine to spend like crazy when one of them is President and usurp power when the other side holds the reigns of power.

That's not how this country functions.

This is primarily the fault of the left. They spend in utterly massive irresponsible ways and borrow and print the money to do so, never even bothering to pretend they give a damn about a "budget."

The sequestration notion came from the President's "team" as Carney admitted (unless the President's press secretary spoke without knowing what he was blabbering about which seems unlikely since Obama never corrected him for it). It is certainly true that Boehner and the GOP majority of Congress went along with it. So they are ALSO somewhat responsible.

But the lion's share of blame goes to the liberal Democrats. They don't even BOTHER passing budgets. We spend TRILLIONs and they quibble and bitch, moan and groan about cutting maybe a few dozen billion. They fool nobody.

It would be a good START (if only a small one ) to just let the sequester happen.

Obama is not a member of the House of Representatives where all spending bills are supposed to originate. It's up to the leaders of the House to work together to reach a compromise that a majority of members will support with an affirmative vote and that the president is willing to sign.

Anything other than that kind of legislative solution is merely rhetorical nonsense.

Do you have any idea how many bills the House has sent to the Senate that Harry Reid is sitting on? The House has been doing their job all along. Get your guys to play ball and put them up for a vote and if they pass, send them to Obama to sign or veto. It's really simple.

Passing a bill in the House that you KNOW either can't pass in the Senate or won't be signed by the president is little more than posturing. It certainly is NOT legislating or governing.

Passing a bill in the House designed so you KNOW it will pass in the Senate and be signed by the president is little more than pandering. It certainly is NOT legislating or governing.

The representatives in the house are representing their constituents and writing legislation their constituents want. The senate and the president owe it to the people to give the bills and up or down vote and to sign it. Of course, they are free to actually propose something themselves.

Why can't you be honest for once?

refute something instead of always dribbling diarrhea

I and plenty of others on this forum have done that very thing
When it happens you become a whinny bitch.

Try refuting something instead of going off topic all the time with wild rants and sophomoric insults inserted to make you look witty. You rarely look witty when doing this unless it is dimwittyness you were trying to achieve

Your assumptions and that of the author depend on a scenario where a willing Congress is a given. There are members of the Congress who will do anything and sacrifice anything in order to keep Obama from looking good -- even if it means bringing down the government.

During the debt ceiling battles last time first, Boner, then Cantor thought they had a deal maker but Tea Party whackos refused to go along.

If the Sequestration is so bad, why did that fuck sign it? If it was the GOP who made it, why is everyone lying except your BS link? Even his employees are lying?

Because Sequerstration WAS the compromise position that both the DEMS and the REPS signed onto.

Had they NOT arrived as that compromise the REPS were prepared to let the lights go out of government rather than extend the national debt.

Were you born yesterday or were you sleeping all last year?

This is solely on Obama. Like the article (You May Be Right, Mr. President, But This Is Crazy - National Journal.com) stated, Obama did not even try to get a compromise going.
He was away on vacation. He did not even try to bring anyone together.

Weren't the democrats equally willing to let the lights go out rather than reform the entitlement programs and cut spending, just as they are now? There are two poliical parties in Washington, and both 'em are screwing us over. Then and now, mostly for political reasons rather than economic ones.

Jesus Christ, he would have come back from vacation. Being in Washington while the GOP was unwilling to negotiate would have accomplished nothing.

American will blame the GOP. :eusa_shhh:

Economics get political. There are two parties, but only one party demanded a trigger mechanism. The GOP

I doubt that... they will blame the person that was playing golf.
Obama did not act as a leader in this fiasco. They knew this was coming for at least a year and not even a hint of compromise. Sorry, that falls into the bad leadership category.

When has Barry ever taken the blame for anything??

I haven't heard him take the blame for anything in the last four years. Doubt the next four will be any different.

It will be the fault of Bush and and the Reps doncha know??

Playing golf? Stop listening to and reading right wing imbecility. Most normal Americans have no idea what you people rant about and share in emails and on blogs

The PowerPoint That Proves It’s Not Obama’s Sequester After All

by John Avlon Feb 20, 2013 4:45 AM EST
Republicans have taken to calling the deep cuts that could reverse our hard-won economic recovery ‘Obama’s Sequester.’ But a July 2011 PowerPoint obtained by John Avlon shows the opposite may be true.

Democrats want Congress to come back and stop ‘sequester’

Pentagon issues furlough notice as ‘sequester’ budget cuts loom

You want them to just give in and let obama reign Hell? Fuck no (even though they have..?)
The sequestration is a bunch of BS. He made that to get bi-partisan votes for his BS Bills. And now it is blowing up in his face! I love it! If the fuckin prick thought about the whole US, we wouldn't have this problem. Maybe... lol
