The comedians doing difi and Grassley were a little funny but the rest was hohum.

Snl used to be a lot funnier

Actually I thought Grassley's portrayal was shit. Didn't even attempt to approach his voice or image. Whitehouse wasn't much better, nor were Kennedy or Hatch. Klobuchar was OK, Mitchell was very good but of course that actress already bears a resemblance. By far the best performances were Damon (Kavanaugh) and McKinnon (Graham). They took the material and stretched it like a good comedian does.

Damon must have completely trashed his lavaliere mic at the end too. Amazing it still worked to deliver the opening line after being doused with water.

I had no idea that Matt Damon had that kind of comic timing, but haven't seen all that many of his movies (mostly drama). The news shows yesterday and today were playing highlights and I just can't get enough of the dude.

Obviously kudos to the writers - I mean c'mon brilliant straight out of the box: "I'm gonna start at an 11 - Then I'm gonna take it to a 15 REAL QUICK!"

But Damon had the stink-face and anger down pat. The water was perfect - cracking open the can frat boy-style toward the end was perfect - AND he kept a straight face until the very end. That had to be hard! They need to add a new category to the Emmys: Best Performance in a Short Comedy Sketch. I can't see anyone topping that one!

Kate McKinnon at least for a time actually upstaged Damon. Somehow both of them were able to stay in character.
