South Carolina schools may teach gun safety and training

A gun is not a drug, strawman.
Most people use drugs safely, and most use guns safely, but people still get dead from both. If we can teach about drugs without the kids using them then we can teach about guns without the kids firing them, but you wouldn't like that kind of class now would you?

Also, guns don't kill people. People kill people.
Answer the question. What if we teach Gun Safety but no kid fires a gun, yes or no?

Considering the number of "accidental" shootings when someone is cleaning a gun, or the number of shootings when someone is unloading a gun, there should be hands-on time at the range. Follow the safety rules and no one is hurt.
Finally, an answer. In your mandatory Gun Safety class guns are loaded and unloaded, and fired. Or is your version of the class optional, or the firing the gun part optional?

The class itself is optional. The range time is part of the class.

You will never eliminate accidental shootings. That is your magical thinking again.

And for nearly everyone I would ban guns. The average person need not own one.

Only because not everyone follows the basic gun safety rules. If they did, there would be no accidental shootings.
So you believe, and you're wrong, not to mention the guns that fire themselves.

Are you for real? Guns don't fire themselves. Like any other inanimate object, they need a person to operate them.

That is a malfunctioning weapon. Also, some people who don't know about gun safety might mess with their weapons. Not to mention, YouTube videos are NOT reliable evidence of anything. I can't believe people try to use them in a debate.

There's nothing wrong with the video: Brazilian Police Recall 98 000 Taurus 24 7 DS Pistols - The Firearm Blog

And:Remington to replace millions of Model 700 rifle triggers

But isn't the reason we have a lot of fucking loose guns in this country because we have a lot of fucking loose parasites, fascists , socialists - criminals?
No. It's because we are a country of stupid fucking people fascinated with deadly toys. John Wayne Wannabes.

So I shouldn't teach my child that scumbags like paintmyhouse will steal , loot, plunder and confiscate their property and lives in order to satisfy their socialist agenda?

If I vaccinate my child in order for him to fight infections WHY can't I teach him to defend his life against motherfuckers like yourself?

Read the description. "Malfunction makes gun fire..."

I did, and the guy who shot himself with it was following the rules but he still got shot by his own gun. That happens, and it always will.

The video may or may not be real. Lol!

It's very real. I wouldn't have posted it otherwise. It was a bad gun.

I highly doubt that the kids will be going to the range with guns anyway. Lol!
That is not an answer. Does a Gun Safety class including firing guns, yes or no?

According to the OP, yes it will include going to the range. That is not all it will include, but it will be part of the class.
You seem to be unable to answer this simple question. Does a Gun Safety class including firing guns and is the class itself optional?

Your question was answered in the link in the OP (almost 50 pages ago).

From that linked article: "The second bill, being proposed in the Senate, would offer an optional gun safety or gun marksmanship course to students, though at an off-campus location."

So yes, it is optional and yes they go to a gun range.
You seem to be unable to answer this simple question. Does a Gun Safety class including firing guns and is the class itself optional?
Pity if it doesn't.

Students should be required to attend a gun range and use all manner of firearms; no better way to develop a healthy respect for guns.

No, he was NOT following the rules. Ihave already posted a link to the rules and given you the rule that was broken by this shooter. "Make sure your firearm is in good mechanical condition before firing it."

That firearm is defective.

No better way to develop a gun nut, just what the NRA and this SC pol want.

My mandatory gun safety class? Just making shit up again? I have never said it should be mandatory.

But any decent gun safety class should certainly include range time with a variety of firearms.

I think the poster in post #565 has it right. It certainly wouldn't hurt to fire a weapon. While I have never owned my own gun, I've been shooting before, and guess what? I never got shot, nor did I shoot anyone else!!! :ack-1: I shot the target, and it was a lot of fun! Also, I learned the proper way to hold the weapon and to make sure the safety is on when I'm not shooting my weapon, which prevents accidental shootings, amongst other things! I actually learned something, and no one got hurt by the big mean guns! :)

The whole "gun nut" thing is your own invention in this context. Do you think there would be no gun nuts without gun safety classes? Or that a student would not harm anyone until he was taught gun safety, and then he becomes some dangerous lunatic?

lmao

I give up. I wanted your opinions, whether the class was mandatory, included firing guns, and was any part of that optional? God you a concrete block.

Really? So he had no round in the chamber until he was ready to fire it, he made sure it was in good mechanical condition, and didn't point it at anything he didn't want to shoot? But still shot himself?

No, I think not.

I think this SC pol and the NRA both have an agenda, more gun nuts, which happens to be true. They want people to like, and therefore buy and use guns, period.

Considering the number of times you have completely invented what I said, like, believe or want, you should not be surprised.

And I said that range time should be part of the course. Not sure where you got the "mandatory" part, but you have invented enough already.

He carried the gun like any other policeman, and shot himself in the foot when the gun fired all on its own.

Paintmyass is talking out of his ass. He clearly does not understand guns, or gun safety. But of course that wont stop him from commenting on it
Cars are defective sometimes too and kill people. Should we stop teaching people how to drive cars?
