South Carolina schools may teach gun safety and training

And I think letting children be around, fire, or even worse own guns is stupid.

Who said anything about children owning guns? You are jumping the gun. :D
His kids have guns. And what kid, after taking this class, wouldn't want a gun? That's the whole point of the class, making more gun nuts.

My kids have guns? How old are my kids? And when did the kids of mine that own guns buy their guns?
Your kids would be 20 to 35, you undoubtedly bought them their first guns. You like guns and so do they you said.

My kids are all adults.

As for your conjecture about their first guns, or any guns, you are wrong. My kids bought their own. When they were adults.

Not surprising that you want to act as if you know me and mine, when you clearly do not.
So when you took them hunting they used your guns but they didn't own their own until they were adults? That's hardly the American tradition.

A gun is not a drug, strawman.
Most people use drugs safely, and most use guns safely, but people still get dead from both. If we can teach about drugs without the kids using them then we can teach about guns without the kids firing them, but you wouldn't like that kind of class now would you?

Also, guns don't kill people. People kill people.
Answer the question. What if we teach Gun Safety but no kid fires a gun, yes or no?

Well I don't have a problem with it either way. It's always better to be educated on a subject than ignorant about it.
Good, an answer at last. It's like pulling teeth but good. And the class taught without firing a gun will last 20 minutes. Done deal. And that one I would make mandatory because of all the fucking loose guns in this country.

But isn't the reason we have a lot of fucking loose guns in this country because we have a lot of fucking loose parasites, fascists , socialists - criminals?

.

Your question was answered in the link in the OP (almost 50 pages ago).

From that linked article: "The second bill, being proposed in the Senate, would offer an optional gun safety or gun marksmanship course to students, though at an off-campus location."

So yes, it is optional and yes they go to a gun range.
You seem to be unable to answer this simple question. Does a Gun Safety class including firing guns and is the class itself optional?

I answered the question. You seem unable to read. In fact, the answer was in the post you quoted.
I'm asking you. Does a Gun Safety class including firing a gun? So far one here says no, and I say no, so what's your opinion and is the Gun Safety class optional?

Are you asking about the gun class that may be added to the SC public school system?

Or are you asking me to speak about every gun class everywhere?
I'm asking you. Does a Gun Safety class including firing a gun? So far one here says no, and I say no, so what's your opinion and is the Gun Safety class optional?

Once again, are you asking about this class for the SC schools? Or are you asking about every gun safety class everywhere?

I have already answered this where the SC schools are concerned.

Why would it last 20 minutes? There is PLENTY to learn about guns, the history of guns, etc. As I'm sure you know, our country (since it has been America) has ALWAYS had guns. Always, and they aren't going anywhere either.
Gun Safety doesn't require one to know the history of the gun. All it requires is to know what to do should you happen upon one, what they are for, and why so many people get dead by them year after year here but not in other nations.

That is your opinion and based on the wish that guns were banned. But, in reality, people have guns for a variety of reasons. Making them safer gun owners (if they ever own one) is a good idea. I could eliminate the accidental shootings.
You will never eliminate accidental shootings. That is your magical thinking again.

And for nearly everyone I would ban guns. The average person need not own one.

Only because not everyone follows the basic gun safety rules. If they did, there would be no accidental shootings.
So you believe, and you're wrong, not to mention the guns that fire themselves.

No, that is actually quite typical. Most people start hunting with their parent's gun or someone else's gun. Few hunters own the gun they first hunt with.

If they follow the basic gun safety rules, they will not have a gun that fires without pulling the trigger.

Really? That sounds like an expensive class!!!
Yes, it will be, but I'm sure the NRA would be happy to pay. It fits their agenda perfectly.

It's pretty much a fact that if you are educated about a thing, you are less likely to hurt yourself or others with that thing.
So in a class about drugs, one should use drugs? You want the full experience right?

A gun is not a drug, strawman.
Most people use drugs safely, and most use guns safely, but people still get dead from both. If we can teach about drugs without the kids using them then we can teach about guns without the kids firing them, but you wouldn't like that kind of class now would you?

That is because there is nothing to teach about the actions of taking a drug. There is much to teach about safe handling and firing of a gun.

The examples you have thrown up here show that quite clearly.

Are you for real? Guns don't fire themselves. Like any other inanimate object, they need a person to operate them.

Answer the question. What if we teach Gun Safety but no kid fires a gun, yes or no?

Considering the number of "accidental" shootings when someone is cleaning a gun, or the number of shootings when someone is unloading a gun, there should be hands-on time at the range. Follow the safety rules and no one is hurt.

Because you either ignore my answer or want me to address something that is not part of the topic.

Finally, an answer. In your mandatory Gun Safety class guns are loaded and unloaded, and fired. Or is your version of the class optional, or the firing the gun part optional?

Stop being so damn literal. Just address the questions as they come up.

That is a malfunctioning weapon. Also, some people who don't know about gun safety might mess with their weapons. Not to mention, YouTube videos are NOT reliable evidence of anything. I can't believe people try to use them in a debate.

I did, and the guy who shot himself with it was following the rules but he still got shot by his own gun. That happens, and it always will.

The video may or may not be real. Lol!
