The American Military occupation of Germany

If the unnecessarily onerous and burdensome sanctions weren't placed upon Germany in the Treaty of Versailles, it's highly improbable that a fiend like Hitler could have seized power.

Nothing was learned from the mistake.

appeasers never seem to learn...:eusa_hand:
Minding your own business isn't appeasement.

You do realize that military interventionism is a hard core leftist progressive policy, don't you?

Who decides what is "our business"?

have we militarily intervened with Iran.....?
Yes.

How do you think that the Shah stayed propped up for all the years he did?

Some say the Ayatollah Khomeni was brought in by the CIA and MI5 because the Shah was getting too big of a head and wanted to make Iran an independent world power instead of a puppet. Wouldn't be a surprise.
Well, as long as there was no western intervention or other hanky-panky involved there. :eusa_shifty:

and then came along Jimmie Cawtah......
Yes.

But that doesn't change that the Shah was propped up for as long as he was by American military intervention, whether in terms of hardware, money, training, intelligence gathering, and so on.

But they just hate us because of our freedom, right?

Two things.

The Germans spy on the United States as well. To pretend that all parties don't gives credence to the fact that the author has no credibility.

The German people are the first to scream bloody murder whenever we make any concessions to leaving or pulling out of their country.

In other words, the hypocrisy is apparent and laughable.

they hate us because of what we can do to them....without appeasers like the peanut farmer getting in the way...

the same reason why the embassy hostages were released the minute Reagan was sworn in...

same reason our sanctions were working......until Carter II stepped in and messed it up again....

This is so typical. When an arguement seems lost, deflect and change the subject. Also typical is to redefine terms and words. Occupy means to have boots on the ground and have military control over a country or region. Military intervention means using military forces and actions. Supplying or selling weapons to a country is not military intervention. The use of civilian intelligence agencies to influence a coup or make political change in a country is not military intervention. Military intervention is when you use one countries military forces to intervene to implement a polical or regime change in another country.

Occupation, Germans should be thankful a country called Germany even exist. Could of, maybe should have been busted into a dozen little countries with a 100 years of foriegn oversite and control. Occupation for a short duration was more than they deserved.

The country should have been CRUSHED, forever. It should have been reduced to a permanently-impoverished, de-industrialized occupied territory for a century or more.

Because that worked out so well the first time it was tried.

It was not tried. Had it been done after WW1, WW2 would not have happened.

Which America does over Germany.

They hate us for what we have done to them, by propping up brutal dictators like the Shah.

You quit doing such foolhardy things and it matters not that a numbskull like Carter gets into office.

Did you like it when the Chinese were sending money over here and peddling influence to shore up the Clintons?

NO.....quite the opposite....

Because the American media is so honest! So a few interviewees and the author's opinion reflects the opinion of the entire country?

Not even a poll or survey to confirm the support you claim exists?

Well, sure. They're like the military analogue to welfare cases who don't want their EBT cards taken away.

What wasn't tried was leaving the Europeans to settle their own squabbles without American meddling.

We intervened because of a little thing called WWII. Germany surrendered with unconditional terms. We had a legal and moral right to occupy Germany after WWII. Germany does not consider us to be an occupation force today. They could quit NATO and demand we leave anytime they want.

The cognitive dissonance of the neo-cons is amusing.

our problem is not to worry about feelings but about our security interests...

But we did interfere, by funding Saddam. You know, the guy who gassed a bunch of them?

Good thing there was no blowback there, huh?
