I never voted for Reagan simply because of the deficit issue. Reagan was right in that there's no more intrinsic value to a job that has humans attach parts to manufactured products than people using their money to go out to eat, have others do their laundry or buy all that marvelous television programming. In theory, Reagan's deficits would have reduced once the Soviets were destroyed.

But the problem is that despite service jobs being just as valuable to the economy as mftring jobs …. they don't pay as much because the labor movement made labor more expensive. It has nothing to do with "worth," and everything to do with "labor supply." If an employer can contain wages, he can better crush competition. Wal-Mart never said it wouldnt' pay tax for healthcare, it just said every retailer must pay the same tax.

The gop is simply addicted to the .1%'s money. As the .1% pays less in real wages, or flat wages, their wealth goes up, which causes them to pay higher taxes, but their taxes increase slower than their wealth increases. And workers get less HC, and education, and pay user fees for roads ....

And as workers don't like taxes anymore that the .1%, society pays for less taxes for benefits to citizens, because the gop sells people on tax cuts.

But people want benefits, so we pay for them with deficits.

McConnell and Boehner knew it was unsustainable. Boehner said "fuck it." Mitch hangs on for less taxes for his FIL. Donald is simply McConnell's useful idiot.

The biggest reason why the recoveries have been weaker is because the people who actually spend money to drive our economy weren't the people who were actually getting enough money to do it. That problem started in the 80s. In that time people could use the equity in their homes as their ATMs to keep spending but even that wasn't enough. By the time Clinton was elected in 1992 the economy was on the verge of collapse. Which was the reason for "It's The Economy Stupid" was born.

The middle class and poor have not had a proper increase in wages since the 80s. The federal minimum wage has not been raised since the bush boy years. The only way some states have higher minimum wages is because the people voted for it by the ballot box.

While the wages, salaries, benefits and unearned income for those at the top increased and have continued to increase since the 80s while everyone else has stagnated.

It's gotten so bad that we now have people who work but still qualify for pubic assistance.

I believe the biggest factor in why recoveries are more and more sluggish is because of the massive state, federal, and corporate debt overhang.

The federal debt is by far the biggest threat to the future of our Republic. So when a dipshit howls "MAGA!" and then proceeds to double the deficit and spend more money than even Obama did, I figure we're all fucked.
