The inept and corrupt federal government

No we can't. We're $20 trillion in debt.

Sure we can. We just need to make the rich pay their fair share. And stop propping up Israel. and stop spending hundreds of billions playing "Hall Monitor of the Hormuz".
If we finally do get the rich to pay their fair share, we will have less revenue to the government than ever. Because we'd have to lower their taxes by at least 50% for them to be paying their "fair share".

By the way....if we confiscated every single dollar in the entire U.S. economy (including the middle class and the poor), it wouldn't even come close to paying off the national debt. Not even half of it.

There's a reason you can't hold a job Joey. Leave economics to the adults, ok? That's clearly far too complex for you.

Former Rep. Chaka Fattah, D-Pa., faces up to 10 years in prison for criminal behavior that, according to The Washington Post, included money laundering and bribery. He was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Harvey Bartle.

Fattah, who represented Pennsylvania’s 2nd District from 1995 to 2016, was found guilty of federal corruption charges relating to earmarks in June.

“This shameful saga again highlights the intersection of pork-barrel earmarks and government corruption,” Curtis Kalin, a spokesman for Citizens Against Government Waste, told The Daily Signal.

No, we wouldn't. Hey, let's put "paying their fair share" to a vote. You'd probably lose that one.

Trump didn't run on "tax cuts for the rich". He ran against the rich, which is why they supported Hillary.

Guy, that isn't true.

We have a national debt of 20 Trillion. We have a GDP of 20 trillion and total assets of 269 Trillion.

As far as debt, we as a country have 145.8 Trillion in debt, if you count everything from mortgages, business loans, credit cards, etc. Federal Government Debt is only a fraction of that.

The thing was, the debt WAS going down under Bill Clinton. Had we kept with his sensible policies, we'd probably have had it paid down by now.

Joey...you are so dumb that it is literally frightening. One cannot pay in "Gross Domestic Product" or "Total Assets". Payments can only be made in the form of actual currency.

Which means we would have to sell those assets (otherwise known as "liquidate" them) in order to pay off of the debt. But here's the catch stupid - we have considerably less than $8 trillion in total currency. Considerably less.

So again moron, if we confiscated every single penny from every single American, we couldn't even pay off 1/3 of the total debt. That's why we have the debt, moron. Because we don't have the money. You are scary stupid. No wonder you can't hold a job.

Good old Joey...operates off of "probably" in a debate. Rational people work off of facts, Joseph. And the facts say that the top 1% earned 15% of all income but paid 24% of all federal taxes. So if we cut their taxes in half (as I stated), that would put them at 12% of all federal taxes (awfully close to their 15% of all income). This is directly from the Congressional Budget Office, junior.

So you have your little liberal vote based on emotions. I'll stick with the hard data and show everyone how stupid you are...

Dollars are dollars whether in hard cold cash or assets
We are not broke......not even close
The amount of cash in circulation is irrelevant

Guy, most money doesn't exist as actual currency. If you understood actual economics, you'd get this.

We could easily pay off the debt in 20 years simply by restructing the tax code to make the rich pay their fair share, combined with some cuts in spending and reform of entitlements.

You'd understand this if you ever held down a real job.

Define fair share.

That's not true, guy. YOu keep citing the INCOME Tax like that's the only tax out there.

You also fail to appreciate that the wealth of the wealthy accumulates when you don't make them pay their fair share. It's why we have the greatest amount of wealth disparity than we've had in our history.

The 1% control 43% of the wealth in this country. Make them pay their fair share. Bring back the estate tax!

Fair share to Joey, is all the wealth of the wealthy.

Marxists....they really are CRAZY!

Agree.

The poor need to pay their fair share too.

I think everyone should pay a minimum of 2% regardless of tax deductions.

I'd be all for that if you got rid of sales taxes and other taxes that work against the poor.

In fact, I would like to see us have ONE tax that covers everything, then we know exactly what we are paying for government instead of this death by a thousand slices system we have now.

Wow...we agree.

Sales tax used to be less than 3%.

Now, it hurts when you buy a car.

What is all that for.
