I found this article by Cindy Simpson to be a fascinating read. She is right, indeed there is irony in the difference the way Obama's citizenship status was ignored in the 2008 and 2012 elections an how Ted Cruz citizenship is now being focused on even though he has never announced he will run for president in 2016. One thing is certain, the comments to the article seem to be in agreement with each other when it pertains to the founders original intent of what a natural born Citizen is. Also, I agree with Simpson about the Palin factor and how Cruz is being treated. Her assessment is accurate.

You're wrong. Fox news has been having a lot of discussion panels lately with many stating Ted Cruz is not eligible due to the born allegiance factor. If you go to the conservative website Free Republic, it has a whole forum dedicated to Ted Cruz eligibility with many conservatives and GOP agreeing he is not Constitutionally eligible to be president. I mean you would think those posters there have access to the founders writings or access to he library of Congress archives. They historical stuff they are posting pertaining to eligibility is mindboggling and yet educational at the same time.\

Here we are two years from 2016 and the media is talking about Cruz citizenship and having a foreign born father and if he is eligible to be president. Not once during the 08 election did a reporter with the MSM approach Obama and ask him about his multiple citizenships he acquired at birth and if he was Constitutionally eligible. Not once. If those who attempted it was labeled racist and ridiculed and the story was scrubbed. On the other hand McCain was questioned by the media and it forced the Senate to authorize a resolution for him to be able to run for office. The hypocrisy was so evident.

Conservatives went to court over Obama's citizenship.

That's never been done before, by the way.

And conservatives have run several foreign born candidates for President, including George Romney (Born in Mexico), Barry Goldwater (Born in Arizona before it became a State) and John McCain (Born in Panama).

The one difference between Obama and Cruz is that we KNOW Obama was born in Hawaii, and we KNOW Cruz was born in Canada. Any argument over it is pointless.
