The Long, Gentle Slide To American Socialism

Means nothing. They live in an extremely wealthy country with a government that doesn’t give a fuck about them. I guess you don’t either.
But the corrupt government, run by corporations - surely we can trust them to take care of us. All they need is a little more power.

Bend over.
Probably right. Certainly right if we don’t change the potus. Bernie might be successful in changing some things. It’s worth a shot.
The first thing we must do is put government in charge of providing for all our needs. Then we'll be taken care of properly.
I know you believe that is what Bernie intends, but you’re wrong.
I don't know what Bernie intends. But it seems to be what you want.
Change baby. Change. Won’t get it with the Don or sniffy Joe.

Is that supposed to mean something? Mad King Donald has changed plenty. Mostly for the worse. Bernie wants to give leaders like Trump even more power. And so do you, apparently.

I don’t think so. Bernie wants to curtail your beloved crony capitalism and socialism for the .1%.

Is that what you want? If so, why aren't you in favor of getting rid of corporate welfare? I think I know, but I'm curious what excuse you'll offer.

The extreme wealthy already have socialism. Why do you find this acceptable, but socialism for the poor is unacceptable?
I'm not sure I am following.

Are you saying that government owns the means of production of the wealthy? Or are you saying that the wealthy own the means of production AND ALSO own the government, and thereby, government owns the means of production?

If the latter, I do follow and I agree that is somewhat the case, but the answer is not socialism for the poor. It is divestment of the wealthy of the power they derive from government ownership by severely limiting the power of government.

:dunno:

The answer to socialism is not more socialism.

The right calls Bernie a socialist or even a communist. Yet he hasn’t called for government to own and control the means of production. Are they stupid?

Bernie calls Bernie a socialist, so they would be stupid to NOT call Bernie a socialist.

Democratic socialist. I believe there is a difference.
And what would that difference be? I've checked out the website, and they're far more radical than Democrats like to pretend. They believe in full on socialism. They just think it's ok, because. democracy.

He's called for government to take over the health insurance industry. Maybe you missed that.

Newsflash...HC is not the entire economy. The entire western world has socialized Medicine. Are they all socialist economies?

A country is socialist to the extent that it imposes socialist policies on society. The excuse that Bernie isn't really a socialist because he "only" wants to socialize a third of the economy is silly. If socialism isn't a bad thing, why the feeble excuses?

The answer for the 'future' is to learn from the past and be eclectic in evolving a system that serves life. 'Capitalism' is an OK game in limited ways, but as capital is at the center, it displaces the creativity and vivacity people can express.
The center of existence is life, not any ideology or economic system. All value of any definition comes from within us.

Are the UK, Germany, France, and Canada socialist nations?

A country is socialist to the extent that it imposes socialist policies on society. I think I said that already. Oh yeah, right there in the post you responded to, silly.

So, why don't you want to get rid of corporate welfare?

Democratic socialist. I believe there is a difference.
What "democratic socialism" even mean?

Voluntary misery?

It's a distinction without a difference. Commie gonna commie.

All problems socialism allegedly solves (it doesn't) are caused by too much government power.

Partially. The government owns/controls the "means of production and distribution" in the health care industry.

Yeah, I get it.

That is literally communism. It is the very definition of communism.
