The numbers prove it: The GOP is estranged from America

We will see. Of course there will continue to be distortions put forth by the monied interests who are protecting their turf at the expense of The People, and ideologues and low information voters, but that is to be expected.

That we disagree is not unexpected; had you read the Time special report "Why Medical Bills Are Killing Us" (March 4, 2013 issue) you might understand. That you didn't is also not unexpected.

All one has to do is look to Massachusetts to see the problems and raising expenses of debt surrounding a government run health care system..... the example is already there like the writing on the wall.

From there we can truly see that "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result". (no it will be different THIS time around lol)

That's your opinion. Now show us how "the problems and raising expenses of debt" of their government health care system is damaging Massachusetts. Your word is not good enough.

Poor jake. King of the Unsubstantiated Statement because he is the classic low information poster.
Danger ahead? Massachusetts health costs are rising ? fast.

He had to expand the war in Afghanistan, because his cross-eyed predecessor failed to fight the war there properly and adequately. On May 1, 2011 we learned that Osama bin Laden was not in Iraq after all. Too bad we wasted trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives learning what liberals knew all along, huh?

And your reference to the last two years of the Bushtarded Era, in which the Congress was controlled by the Democrats, is odd. For starters, you don't acknowledge that the GOP deservedly lost their majority. There were reasons as far back as 2006 for the GOP's unified power to come to an end. It's the GOP's fault that it did end. Conservatives' failure to realize this is why the GOP is still out of power today. And secondly, please point to a law passed by the new Dem majority and then signed by the Cross-Eyed Usurper of 2000 that led to the Bush Recession. I'll be waiting.

So Obama did expand the war in Afghanistan, which was necessary because Bill Clinton refused to prosecute al Qaeda.
So you admit the Democrats did control the Congress for the period immediately preceeding the economic crash.
Points admitted, battle won.

You admitted all my points. You decided I won.

people of color are already showing they will refuse to vote for a party that cheats them in elections

:eusa_silenced:Well come 2014 and 2016 they will for sure know they were cheated in 2009. Believe me many of them are wising up to what they were handed.

What the right forgets is those people of color in our party are PART of our party.

they vote on the platform and hold seats in our government.

You just keep pretending the Democratic party is not lead by a person of color.

Out top officail is a black man with VAST powers in this nation

:eusa_drool:And its ones like you that have to bring up ones race in order to make your point. You sound more like the racist than anyone else.

Truthmatters see's race in every post.

why is it the right can not comprehend that the people of color in the democratic party help design the platform?

why cant you ever see people of color as participants in democracy?

:eusa_hand:Well little one it has nothing to do with color. It has to with leading properly. And at this point that is not being done. So stop using race as a talking point and wise up.

yeah Im sure they will be real mad that they now get some healthcare

they already had healthcare, no one in the USA was denied healthcare before obozocare. NO ONE, not even people here illegally.

Now, thanks to obozocare, those who were getting it free will be paying for it, those who have insurance will be paying more for less coverage, and the overall quality of healthcare will decline--------what a friggin great deal you let obozo ram up your ass.

"obozocare"? :eusa_eh: This is the "grown-up" part of the forum there little fella'. Act like an adult here if you are able.

:eusa_hand:Whats the matter little one...is it too hard for you to figure out? You have to remember that many on the left are still growing up...they don't understand the truth very well.

... when it comes to controlling health care costs, Massachusetts has no advantage, and in fact is starting behind most other states. It's costs are among the highest in the nation, and they have been growing in recent years at 6 percent to 7 percent while the economy has been growing at less than 4 percent.

In Massachusetts, Universal Coverage Strains Care

By KEVIN SACK — The New York Times

AMHERST, Mass. — Once they discover that she is Dr. Kate, the supplicants line up to approach at dinner parties and ballet recitals. Surely, they suggest to Dr. Katherine J. Atkinson, a family physician here, she might find a way to move them up her lengthy waiting list for new patients.

Those fortunate enough to make it soon learn they face another long wait: Dr. Atkinson’s next opening for a physical is not until early May — of 2009.

State's 'no diversion policy' is putting strain on Massachusetts hospitals
Massachusetts Nurses Association - News & Events - Archive - 2009 - State's 'no diversion policy' is putting strain on Massachusetts hospitals
From the Massachusetts Nurse Newsletter — April 2009 Edition

Wait times on the rise
Many nurses across the state reported that their emergency department wait times were increasing, some significantly. According to one respondent from a Partners-owned facility, when she came into work at 11 p.m., “The waiting room was packed. There were 17 patients waiting to be seen and those actually in the department had been waiting an average of four hours to be seen.”

Another nurse from a hospital on the South Shore reported wait times of 10 hours, which decreased to seven hours after the implementation of a new hospital patient-flow project.

Others report that psychiatric patients are waiting even longer for care. “We also see a large number of psychiatric patients and do not have a ‘dedicated area’ for them,” said a nurse from a suburban hospital outside Boston. “While these psychiatric patients wait for bed placement they stay in the ER, taking up beds which could be used for other patients. As there are limited psych beds in the state, we’ve had psych patients in the ER as long as three days—hardly therapeutic.”

Another nurse from a North Shore hospital reported, “Many nurses are exhausted and have been in tears because they are afraid someone will die on their watch. Patients wait with significant pain in the waiting room because there isn’t an open space in the ER. A myocardial infarction went undiagnosed for hours because the ER doctor was called to the intensive care unit twice to intubate another patient.”

Policies push patients out of the ER
At some hospitals, patients are moved out of emergency departments with arbitrary time limits. For example, nurses in other units are told that they have thirty minutes to turnaround a room to receive a patient—whether or not they are prepared to do so. The MNA has received other reports of hospitals admitting patients to floors without orders.

According to a nurse, “We are forced to take the patient without medical orders and to call the respective house officer to have orders written within 15 to 30 minutes of patients arriving on the floor. This is an extremely dangerous practice for both the RN and the house officer. One patient was on the floor for five hours before a nurse was able to conduct an assessment.”

Skyrocketing Massachusetts health costs could foreshadow high price of ObamaCare

Since the bill became law, the state’s total direct health-care spending has increased by a remarkable 52 percent. Medicaid spending has gone from less than $6 billion a year to more the $9 billion. Many consumers have seen double-digit percentage increases in their premiums.

Even more striking, the 2006 law has done little to ease the burden on emergency rooms, a central goal of all heath care reform plans. A report by the Boston Globe found that in the first two years of the program the state’s ER costs actually rose by 17 percent. “They said that ER visits would drop by 75 percent, and it hasn’t been even close to that,” said State Treasurer Tim Cahill, who is currently running for governor as an Independent. “It hasn’t changed people’s habits. It hasn’t been successful at getting people to use less expensive alternatives.”

Medinnovation: Massachusetts - Doctor Wait Times, Costs, ER Visits in Massachusetts Climb

More people are seeking care in Massachusetts hospital emergency rooms, and the cost of caring for ER patients has soared 17% over two years. This is despite efforts to direct patients with nonurgent problems to primary care doctors instead, according to new state data. Visits to Massachusetts emergency rooms grew 7% between 2005 and 2007, to 2,469,295 visits. The estimated cost of treating those patients jumped from $826 million to $973 million.

It is the state where President Obama received his law school education, where Senator Edward Kennedy has fought for a single payer system for 40 years, where Obama’s closest health care advisors, Dean David Cutler, PhD, of Harvard and Robert Blumenthal, M.D., of Massachusetts General and National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, reside, and where the nation’s first “universal health plan” was spawned and has been in operation for three years.

Yet, despite this political firepower, something seems to have gone askew. Massachusetts health costs are the highest in the land. Despite the highest concentration of physicians per capita and lowest rate of uninsured among the states (2.6%), people are having a hard time finding doctors, especially primary care practitioners but other specialists as well. Bay State residents are flocking to high-cost emergency rooms for care in unprecedented numbers. And all of this in an affluent states which is supposed to set an example for other states to follow.

The average wait times for appointments in Boston for cardiology are 21 days, dermatology 54 days, obstetrics-gynecology 70 days, orthopedic surgery 40 days, and family practice 63 days.

Yep, poor black people voted Obama into office. I love it. It wasn't fraudulent though. It was quite legitimate, and understandable, considering the hatred and antipathy that conservative whites feel towards their fellow Americans who are poor and black.

Well, not just the poor black people, the rich black people voted for him too. Latinos, rich and poor, Asians too, rich and poor, women of all colours, and people with university degrees. In fact the ONLY demographic that the Republicans have firmly in their pockets is older white men and their wives. That's hardly a cross section of the country now is it.

And here's what those of us who aren't middle aged white males are finding so fabulously funny is that now that you guys and your wives aren't running the show your own way, haven't you all turned into the whiniest bunch of assholes EVER????

For most of my life, blacks, women, latinos, Jews and Asians have complained about how badly entitled white males have been screwing us over and screwing up the country, all to their own benefit, and now the REST OF US have taken over, you just can't stand it. Obama is a communist. We're all communists.

The best one of all is we're selfish. Well if there's one thing that the entitled white male class knows it's selfish. You guys are the poster children for selfish. Ask Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the entire Bush administration how much money they personally made off the war in Iraq? Ask Cheney how much money he has made through Haliburton's contracts with the US government since he founded that company.

It's no wonder the only people the Republicans have left to vote for them is old white guys. They're the only ones who Republican policies have ever benefitted. The rest are smartening up and leaving.

"In my decades of polling, I recall only one moment when a party had been driven as far from the center as the Republican Party has been today.

"The outsize influence of hard-line elements in the party base is doing to the GOP what supporters of Gene McCarthy and George McGovern did to the Democratic Party in the late 1960s and early 1970s — radicalizing its image and standing in the way of its revitalization."

Yet if one were to survey the posts on this forum, one might conclude that ultra conservatives were mainstream, a concept many self-described conservatives who post here daily actually believe. I believe that most of the members of this board who fit this mold will eschew the link, for denial is a powerful emotion; and I and anyone who criticizes the ultra conservative dogma are immediately attacked and labeled a libtard or a RINO. Introspection is not something those on the right ever seem to utilize and that may explain the decline of the Republican brand.

Conservatives love the USA, but hate half of the people in it.

The Tea Party is like having people from the 1950s show up and start whining about all the changes. The positive changes, that is.

Liberals hate the USA and hate more than half of the people in it.

Another Brilliant and Original idea posted from the fringe; good show Mudman

So you admit the Democrats did control the Congress for the period immediately preceeding the economic crash.
Points admitted, battle won.

You admitted all my points. You decided I won.

I admitted your points? Seriously, your lame-o attempts to find fault with Democrats is entertaining, but not convincing.

Obama cake walked through two elections in a row because he was hired to clean up the mess that his predecessor left. Dubya is one of the worst Presidents this country has ever had, and your side needs to come to terms with that fact. Your side's failure to do so has contributed to the last two deserved defeats. Liberals aren't your problem. Conservatives' inability to learn from mistakes is your problem.

You seem to enjoy posting shit that isn't true.
Obama has continued all the policies the Left found so objectionable. He has destroyed the economy with the worst recovery on record. the GOP won big in 2010, even Obama called it a shellacking.
Your insisting on your own personal narrative, maybe told to you by Rachel Maddow, doesnt make it true.

No, he has allowed the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy to expire. That was the single most damaging thing Bush did was cut taxes to the wealthy. Obama has one of the best economic records in history, considering where he started.

The GOP won big because people are impatient, and because the gerry mandered to make it happen. And white people got scared and voted against the scary black guy when things didn't do an instant turn around.

This is not left wing US media telling me this, this is the world media making observations of what happened. As long as US conservatives continue to paint Obama as a communisitic Kenyan, the rest of the world will continue to laugh at you.

Actually he extended the Bush tax cuts. And the tax cuts were not all for the wealthy.
The world is laughing at us already. Our approval ratings worldwide are lower than they were under Bush.

people of color are already showing they will refuse to vote for a party that cheats them in elections

Yet, thru Amnesty for millions of illegal aliens who will vote for Democrats, the largest voter nullification in history is being done by Democrats. So if you really are against voter nullification as you claim Republicans do, show us where you've spoken out against this voter irregularity? Oh, you haven't?? It's this kind of hypocrisy by you, that makes it hard to take you seriously...

Amnesty was signed into law by President Reagan.

"voter nullification"? I assume you meant to write voter suppression. Correct?

No voter nullification. Democrats try to blame Republicans of having unfair elections to distort the electoral process, yet amnesty for millions of illegals who will vote democratic distorts citizens votes far more than some voter irregularites -- which by the way both sides have done. As far as Reagan, he made a huge mistake with amnesty and now that it is clear, he probaby wouldn't have voted for it today, but Dems would...
