The Poisoning of Flint, MI.

Maybe the people of Flint should have paid their water bills.

Exactly.
That and other things, probably had something to do with the Flint City Council and City Mayor(Dem) to not renew that 50 year old contract with Detroit's water. They thought they were saving the City some money.

And if the truth turns out that the governor's office stymied efforts by trying to discredit people that came forward?

Oh wait...that IS the truth.

That's the "truth" you want to see because you have a bone to pick with Republican Governors. The actual truth will take time to come out.

Nope, that's what actually happened. People appointed by the governor and who reported only to him did exactly that...dismissed and attempted to discredit the water specialist and the doctor that came forward.

So far we only have accusations, but keep up the talking point that its all the Governors fault. It will get you about 15 minutes of traction for your 2 minute republican hate.

Your blatant hypocrisy is showing Marty. Hate is a strong emotion, one expressed ad nausea by the crazy right wing and conservative Republicans - but I digress and repeat myself - whenever Obama or HRC is on topic.

It seems that Republican Governors deserve to be investigated for real high crimes, misdemeanors, untoward behavior and incompetence.

Look into the e-mail issue for Gov. Scott in FL. does this not scream for an instigation, or the actions of Fl Governor Martinez acting under the color of authority to call off a police investigation, and the fact that children have been poisoned in Michigan.

One take away is the fiscally conservative have been proven to be penny wise and pound foolish. It's time for the executive and legislative bodies in the US to begin to act fiscally responsible.

Cuomo is also looking at investigations in NY, but he's a democrat so you give him a pass.

No hypocrisy here, I just refuse to jump on the "blame them without actual evidence just because I don't like them" bandwagon.

Your side continues to equate political disagreement with warranting criminal prosecution, and you look for any little thing (or big thing early in the investigation) to attempt to latch some legitimacy to your blatant political grievances.

LOL, do you live in a cave? Darryl Issa ring a bell? Calling you a hypocrite is high praise.

No hypocrisy here. The only thing in this thread is your willful ignorance of any hint of funny business as long as there isn't an (R) after the politician's name.

ARE YOU SHITTING ME!!!

That is the trademark of the blue model progressive run city, where in some of them the can is too big to kick anymore!

The problems in Flint were CREATED by blue model municipal accounting and government, and you are blaming fiscal conservatives????

How can you type that with a straight face????

It is funny...Mrs BJ commits high crimes with her emails and the left yawns. Michigan governor may have had little involvement, but to the left he must resign and face prosecution.

Their blatant partisanship is clear to all but themselves.

Really ignorant people imagine that this is a matter of taxes. Tax cuts caused the city to use the water from Flint river. Tax increases will fix the problem.

It's not taxes. People stopped paying their water bills leaving no money for anything. Early on the water was shut off in homes with unpaid bills. A judge ordered the water turned on and prohibited future cut offs for non paynent. The majority of residents stopped paying and this is the result. Taxes do not pay water bills. Water is not subsidized by taxes.
Pay the bill next time.

i just assumed that potability was a no brainer, it's also why we drink rivers of beer, like the pilgrims. as my dad always said beer is 95 % water. :)

Michael Weiner, aka, Michael Savage seems to be the one to coin the phrase, "liberalism is a mental disease". Of course hysterical rhetoric is his schtick, but he may have been on to something.

That something is the behavior of conservatives, who despite reality take all talking points the conservative propagandists babble about as absolute truths. The most disturbed conservatives - those who claim the mantle - echo those talking points over and over until they, like all big lies, begin to infect rational thinking and convince the biddable,

Dumbing down*** the masses is the propagandists goal, and its success is discernible to even the casual observer of so many who echo the the efforts of the propagandists - such as limbaugh, hannity and others - by those on this message board.

***Dumbing down is the deliberate oversimplification of intellectual content within education, literature, cinema, news, and culture in order to relate to those unable to assimilate more sophisticated information

let me summarize this for the non-wrycatcher proficient.

"People who disagree with me are making valid points about my asinine posting, thus I have to resort to long winded posts to make me look smarter than I actually am. "

You are welcome.

GM provided the one industry for the town to grow around. Punting pension costs and relying on a tax base to spend beyond your means is the blue model I am talking about.

As an ad hominem you use too many words, none of which include a clear, concise rebuttal.

What I did leave out is the characteristic posts of 21st century conservatives, mostly logical fallacies; the most popular the ad hominem followed by the Slippery Slope, False Dichotomy, Straw Man and assorted other Red Herrings. Oh, and let's not forget lies, half-truths, rumors, innuendos and character assassinations.

You've made an allegation that HRC committed high crimes with her e-mails, but missing from your allegation is any evidence. In fact no harm has ever been reported resultant from her use of a private server; certainly none which reaches to the high crime of poisoning a civilian population.

Your use of "Mrs BJ" is evidence that you're are a partisan jerk not smart enough to post anything of substance, and thus you need to echo other crazy right wingers. You're pitiful.

Over the past few weeks, Rachel Maddow has been covering the water situation in Flint, MI.

Snyder admin allowed Flint to drink toxic water despite warnings

Rick Snyder administration in Michigan new about reports of the toxicity of Flint's water while the town continued to drink it, resulting in the lead poisoning of some residents, including children, and even rejected Flint's democratically elected council's vote to change water sources.

Yes, they are videos but I highly recommend watching them. What the governor's office did borders on criminal negligence. They intentionally ignored warnings and tried to discredit those that came forward.

Children of Flint will have permanent damage from the lead poisoning caused by his gross negligence.

This is Snyder being transparent

Thanks for letting us see your emails Rick. LOL

I am a partisan jerk...too funny coming from you.

It is clear she broke the law. Now...is she above the law or not?

Mrs. BJ is an apt name for her....too bad you are so foolish as to put lying thieving corrupt politicians above name calling. When will you learn that ALL politicians are scumbags until prove otherwise? Mrs. BJ is a proven scumbag, but your silly partisanship prevents you from accepting the truth.

Ok. So city council voted to switch it. And the Health Department hid evidence of the problem then downplayed it.

Is that accurate?

And as governor...yes...he should hold SOME accountability for the state health department. But it appears 90% of this problem was not his control.
