I'd say the GOP plays it in moderate fashion by leaving it up to the states and not calling for a Constitutional ban. Thus it will still be available within the country, though travel to another state may be necessary for a legal procedure.

Incorrect. As already pointed out there is not A moderate position on anything because there is no moderate 'party' or dogmatic playbook. There are moderate positions on everything - positions that are not extreme in their stance.

A moderate position is, as already pointed out, legal abortion that allows for outlawing abortion after a certain time frame. Or, as Chuz was saying, removing the federal government and returning it to the states can also be considered a moderate position.

Numbers don't lie. (Statisticians do -- but that's another thread).. And the Big Middle is growing bigger. The "brand name" party loyalists are shrinking. Very soon if not now -- the Big Middle will be BIGGER than both of the warring tribes combined. This is why polling SUCKS lately. Because they need to weight the sampling. And they don't have a fucking clue how to weight when Indies and 3rd parties are determining elections at an increasing rate.

As for reals, it's the rather common sense position, that abortion is fine, but the government should not pay for it. 9th month babies should not be aborted...
