The Socialism boogeyman

Please explain to us oh great one how the Democratic policies will lead us to the Utopean ideal of Sweden, for example, with their homogenous society and strict citizenship
Yes, since Mac1958 knows everything I would be interested in his roadmap for that also

The only true Boogeyman is Capitalism since it is the only system smeared both by Democrats and Republicans. There is no one in the mainstream who is openly adovcating Capitalism. Socialism, on the other hand, is openly advocated for by people like Bernie Sanders and Ocasio-Cortes and even by many Conservatives without themselves even knowing about it. .
The only true boogeyman is the psycho American Left.

The right wing in America has used the term Socialism as a scare tactic for decades, but it's not working anymore. The American economy has functioned with a mixture of Socialism and Capitalism for many years i.e the hundreds of billions in free money the American government pays out to corporate America as subsidies, grants and other corporate welfare goodies are a pure form of Socialism. One could also make the case that tax credits, automatic rollover defence contracts and Federal Deposit insurance are also forms of Socialism. Millennials now associate Socialism with Scandinavia, and not the old USSR.

America has cooled a little on capitalism. This is hardly surprising when you consider how the American form of Capitalism has failed ordinary Americans. The poorest men in the US have the same life expectancy as men in Sudan. Maternal mortality more than doubled between 1991 and 2014. The middle class has shrunk. People are desperate for an alternative to an increasingly dismal status quo.

Sorry Republicans - Your Socialism boogeyman is not scaring people anymore.

America is no longer "The Land of Opportunity". It's a strongly classful society...you are what your parents were.

The wealthy have burned almost all bridges behind them.

So why not socialism? Most of the wealthy did not earn their wealth or if they did it's only because they started life in a very advantaged position economically.

Sure, there will always be a tiny number of people that go from rags to riches, but for most people it's a whole lot more likely that they go from middle-class to poverty. Most are a lay off away from being homeless.

Socialism gives people the one thing that capitalism gives only a tiny few....SECURITY.
If you want socialism fine, I will take the easiest burger flipping job, do as little as possible..

I refuse to work hard in a socialist society .

The real socialists should be sending this kind of "capitalist" Thank You cards.

Their arrogant ignorance is the main reason socialism is only gaining in interest.

No one cares what you think, dumbass....

They used "socialist" for a long time, and finally realized that, not only did it no longer scare anybody, but it probably backfired and made many people more interesting in hearing about socialism. Too funny.
Socialism scares everyone who knows what it means

which is that not everyone has to contribute to their own needs

Under socislism if someone does not want to work they dont have to
... and you guys tell each other that Democrats want us to be like Venezuela.

That's because you have been conned. You have been fooled. Led astray.

Maybe one day you'll figure that out. Probably not any time soon, though.

Talk about irony...

Democrats don't want us to be like Venezuela, but that is where their policies ultimately lead. They are simply too ignorant to realize it. I am not.
That is your opinion. Others disagree.

They can disagree all they would like. I can't help their ignorance and short-sightedness. You can't fix stupid, but we attempt on a daily basis on this board. It's difficult not to argue with folks who are so dilusioned and indoctrinated. It almost feels like it is our duty to attempt to break the indoctrination, but most of the time it is like trying to teach Calculus to a pre-schooler, with the same result ending in tantrums and frustration.

Honestly, it is very hard to comprehend how any non-indoctrinated person can't see how giving "free" stuff to people that don't earn it and taking away stuff from people that do is not harmful to society. That is the gist of the entire Democratic platform.

Repying to Mac is a waste of time...He is without a doubt the dumbest of the left in here, and that is saying alot....

They stuck on Marxism for a time, and now they're pretty much stuck on "commie" and communism, like modern-day Archie Bunkers.

I've also seen them say that the devil himself is involved, and I very much wonder where they take it from here. I mean, where the hell (no pun intended) can they go from here?

Of course, all they're doing is scaring themselves and each other, as usual, while the rest of us smile and roll our eyes.
You just can't help yourself can you?
You always refer to the worst of one side as being the opinion of all.
That is disingenuous.
Social Security is not socialism. WE pay for it out of our checks.
Unemployment payments is not socialism, companies pay into a pool based on their record of making people unemployed. My company has laid off only a handful of people since 1967. But every month we pay into the system. That is not socialism.

The left likes to point to the Scandinavian nations as good examples of "socialism." The problem is that their foreign ministers are quick to point out that they are NOT socialist countries. They identify themselves as "free-market capitalist" nations with a couple of social programs. They also point out that to ensure that the large companies will stay in their countries, they do not tax them heavily. The middle-class are the most heavily taxed. So, what are their most significant social programs? One is similar to our Social Security for the elderly. The other is their health care programs (cradle to grave). This has worked well in the past, as they are each small nations with much smaller homogenous populations than the US.
However, with the large influx of migrant populations into their areas, their social programs are currently failing, as there aren't enough funds/services to cover the needs of the migrants and their citizens. This, is the failing of the socialized programs. It fails at handling large populations of poorly educated migrants and their needs. Over time, it breaks the bank.
Because of its overall failure, Scandinavians have left their own countries and moved to locations such as Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, where their governments have banned the influx of Muslim migrants. Also, by noticing that those nations have no Islamic terrorist problems, they feel safer there.
I believe it was Vladimir Lenin that said, "Democracy is needed for Socialism to rise," and he was a Communist. The Marxists peddle the idea that once Socialism takes over, there will be no more classes. All will be equal. In a sense, that is true. Once true Socialism takes over there will only be one class, poor. Only the higher echelon in the Politburo have any wealth.
