He is basically suggesting that Putin is suicidal, because he suggest that if Putin wins the war in Ukraine, then he will be at the borders of NATO in a strategic way, otherwise as if he would commit suicide for himself and the Russian people by going after NATO countries or the alliance. Not sure what Putin's overall goal is with Ukraine, but going after NATO would be the ultimate stupid on his part. Wait, unless tomuchtime is thinking that NATO is weak under it's current leadership's, and therefore it could fracture if the right pressure is brought forth against it ????

Now, if Putin is pushed back, and loses the war with Ukraine, and this happens all because of NATO helping Ukraine to win, then Putin might perceive that to be the same thing as Ukraine being unofficially in the alliance, even if Ukraine isn't supposed to be in the alliance on Russia's border like that.

Now what the consequences of that situation might be down the road, uhhh is anyone's guess.
