Nothing, the whacko rule was among the most controversial environment regulations Obama put together so it was round filed into the trash where it belonged.

A broken watch is right twice a day. Coal tar and water do not mix very well. If you think it does then why don't you drink some. It is a shame that Republicans are more interested in making life easier for polluters. What we are seeing is the opposite end of the coin. Democrats over-regulate and Republicans under-regulate. It is sad that there is no happy medium that protects the environment which Republicans are not interested in doing so.

Dem run inner cities are spilling untreated human sewage into public waterways, shit, urine, and god knows what else. Clean up that giant mess then we can discuss the coal industry.

He undid an unnecessary 11th hour EPA change to an existing regulation that worked for decades in keeping water clean. Undoing this reverts the regulation to its previous level of regulation.

Coal "spoil" is mostly rocks and dirt separated from the coal during processing. Every mine, no matter the mineral being dug out has overburden or tailings in the sort-out process. All coal spoil has ever produced in streams is a slight increase in salinity which fish adapt to and municapal water-purification filters out. The scary pics earlier in this thread dealt with leaking slurry ponds and the EPA is still tasked with keeping those in check....when they don't break one themselves like they did on the Animus River in Colorado. Incidentally, in that spill the EPA refused to pay down-river damages after years of seizing billions of dollars in fines from companies who didn't cause nearly the damage the EPA did.

This is one of the regulations passed by obastard just before he left office. The entire purpose of this regulation was to impose costs on business.

The question is not whether it imposes a cost on business. The question is whether it allows companies to pollute water with coal waste. All a company has to do is say it costs them money and you decide a regulation is not necessary. By that standard we would have no regulation and BIG BUSINESS can do whatever they want. It seems all they have to do is tell Republicans it costs money and thrush to get rid of it just because Obama did it.

And as I have shown, it doesn't. The law is clear, it must comply with the Clean Water Act.

Then why bother?
