The verdict still makes no sense. Even if they made a coherent determination on “sexual abuse” (which is a contrary to fact hypothesis), that still doesn’t explain how he defamed her by denying her claim of rape.

It makes no logical and no legal sense to assert that if you deny a claim of rape, you can even possibly be liable for defamation for denying the claim — especially when same jury agrees that the rape claim wasn’t established.

This is one of the reasons this case has a good prospect for getting overturned on appeal.
