Trump Says He Won't Sell His Businesses To Address Conflicts Of Interest

should Trump Divest himself from his business before he is sworn in as POTUS.

  • Yep, even the appearance of impropriety should be avoided.

  • Nope, his kids can run it and nobody should think anything of it.

Nonsense. No other president has been asked to do such a thing. Of course, he's one of the first ones in recent memory that actually has WORKED outside of politics.

But I'm pretty sure Jefferson and Washington didn't sell the farms when they served as president.

Exactly!
You all don't think that previous Presidents didn't go back to their plantations to oversee operations and manage them?
It's the original concept of America, of polititians running their businesses and being politicians part time so that they could experiance what impact their bills had on the businesses.
The Arizona legislature still meets annually.

How many oversea's investments did those president have? But give the man some rope.........

You think they only shipped their goods to the other States?
Of couse they didn't.
They sold their goods by shipping transport to all over the wolrd.

Normally the president must only divest or have a blind trust with their business while in office..

Which is what Trump is doing ,a blind trust.
And normally thoses Presidents were recieving a full goverment salary.
Trump doesn't even want the one dollar except for another stupid law.

Asking someone to walk away from a life of hard work & success for a 4 year public service job is a bridge too far for me.

If he does something unethical then deal with it.

I have to call it like I see it, and this is a bad thing. He should divest himself from his business entirely. He is opening himself up to justified criticism. Hellary did this shit with her foundation by taking donations from foreign entities while SOS. She was a filthy dirty snatch for doing it, and The Orange Clown is doing the same shit. A horrible way to step into the Oval Office.

Why should he destroy that which he has worked a half century to create? Silly.

Let the kids run it. If evidence arises that he remains involved, then perhaps there is a case. But not before.

Destroy? Nobody said anything about destroying it. Conservatives need to be honest with themselves on this issue. If this were a democrat you'd be screaming just like when the bulldyke was selling her time as SOS for donations to her phony foundation.

The Clinton's were forced to say they would completely divest themselves from their CHARITY, if she became President....that both Bill and Chelsea would get out of it too....

Why are you Trumpsters not forcing the same, with Trump?

HOW can he not have a conflict of interest with his business that his kids would run? When YOU KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT that Trump would be following his own business and know the deals his children were making with Foreign Nations, to put up their Trump towers...

Trump should have thought about this BEFORE he chose to run for President....unless he never really planned to win and this was simply a publicity stunt to enrich himself and family?

You're spot on, the trump righties (full disclosure, I voted for him) are showing they can be as big of hypocrites as the whinny Libs.

So you're assuming Trump will act like Hillary.

I'm not and willing to see how things unfold, especially knowing Trump knows the lefty idiots will be poised to jump all over him if he gives them the opportunity, something I think he's too smart to do.

I'm not assuming anything. That is why the poll question was specifically written "avoid the appearance of impropriety..."

Good on you for being consistent. Unfortunately Trumpster lemmings just don't give a sht as your poll clearly shows.

Trump will not divest himself from his business and will not release his tax returns despite many false promises and they will just close their eyes on that and everything else.

You're correct, just like the left closed their eyes on Hellary's actions as SOS with donations to her phony foundation. Hypocrisy runs rampant, and few are immune to it.

It would defeat the purpose of why he ran for president in the first place if he divested.

Speaking of the Clinton Foundation, that left wing loon Ken Starr weighed in on that one.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/25/us/politics/ken-starr-impeachment-bill-clinton.html

An unlikely voice recently bemoaned the decline of civility in presidential politics, warned that “deep anger” was fueling an “almost radical populism” and sang the praises of former President Bill Clinton — particularly his “redemptive” years of philanthropic work since leaving the White House.

The voice was that of Kenneth W. Starr, the former Whitewater independent counsel, whose Javert-like pursuit of Mr. Clinton in the 1990s helped bring a new intensity to partisan warfare and led to the impeachment of a president for only the second time in the nation’s history.

I don't necessarily agree with that, but it does open him up to that assertion. Something's are more important than your personal wealth, and when you aspire to be POTUS you need to be prepared to sacrifice for the cause. The Libs will have every right to call into question any acts he takes as president which appear to benefit his business.

His kids are a blind trust? He has no contact with them? They will not be working in the White House?

Here's a thought. Trump should put his businesses under a Charitable Trust so then he can peddle influence just like the Clinton Crime Family Syndicate!

There simply is no rational basis for believing Trump's golf courses or luxury hotels or apartment building or luxury consumer items will create a conflict of interests with his duties as president.

It's funny some think that he should have a fire sale/Blind trust. Where he'd get pennies on the dollar... basically pocket change.
