U.S. colleges scramble after new Trump order on foreign students

Not only Trump, but every other sensible American is pissed off at Harvard for sabotaging our country with that racist community organizer, Obama, and his administration. Hell, nothing good came out of Harvard since JFK.

And another EO, that makes no sense. Is it because Trump is impotent to affect the opening of public schools under local control? Wants to destroy higher education? Is pissed at Harvard? This new order contradicts previous policy regarding Covid....what a mess.

Many U.S. colleges were scrambling on Tuesday to modify plans for the fall semester in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic a day after the Trump administration issued an order that could force tens of thousands of foreign students to leave the country if their schools hold all classes online.
The announcement blindsided academic institutions grappling with the logistical challenges of safely resuming classes, particularly after the federal government had granted exceptions to the rules limiting online learning for foreign students when colleges and universities in March rushed to shutter campuses and move to online classes as the pandemic forced lockdowns.

There are more than a million foreign students at U.S. colleges and universities, and many schools depend on revenue from foreign students, who often pay full tuition.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency said institutions moving entirely to online learning must submit plans to the agency by July 15. Schools that will use only in-person learning, shortened or delayed classes, or a blend of in-person and online learning must submit plans by Aug. 1.

I rather like the idea.

Colleges have been getting way to fat for way to long.

And foriegn students have been a big help.

Fuck 'em.

Scrambling legal teams I guess. EO's of this nature are not legitimately enforceable, because what is proposed is not within the prerogative of the executive branch.

Actually it is, the president can suspend at HIS DISCRETION immigration of any class of immigration for such a time as he thinks proper.

(f)Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

If a student isn't attending classes they can be sent home.

.

Well,
I am not all that certain that we are still a nation bound by laws.
That could really end up being problematic.

Lol...no they aren't. They won't be going anywhere.
Thats too bad but I can live with a certain amount of residue knowing that new students will not be allowed in

then maybe we can grant waivers for s korean and japanese student, or maybe just waiver everyone except the chinese
There is no reason for a waiver. There are no classes to attend.

Why is this so hard to understand? There will be no physical classes. Instead of having classes limited by the number of seats, classes will number in the thousands. Literally limitless.
But will for students who are expelled pay tution?

Trump's admin is trying to force colleges to hold live classes on campus to open up schools. That's all that this is about.
Trump is trying to force no such thing. Trump wants schools open. He wants public schools open. This has nothing to do with universities like Harvard who decided to go all online. Why would anyone be expelled?
bs. He wants kids out of their parents houses and on campus. And this is one means he it trying to use. It will blow up in his face, because he's not only incompetent, he doesn't live in the same reality most people live.
You don't seem to be living in any reality at all. Trump is not opposing any school going to all online classes.

He does want primary and high school students back in classrooms. So do most parents who need to get back to work themselves.
Sure Trump's open to all internet. That's why he wants to cut funding to those who do.

All you trump folks. Back in the pool. free drinks!!!

They will get MORE tuition from foreign students. Students that would scrape tuition but not have enough to live on now find they can stay with mom and dad in Shanghai and still get that Harvard or Princeton degree. The world is literally the campus.

Heaven forbid that students attend from their home countries at a fraction of the cost of living in the US. Mark my words only part of this is tuition, there's gobs more money the left doesn't want to lose on room and board.
The for students will just enroll in schools in other countries. But you're probably good with that.

Why would any American care???

Care to share, why you think it would be problematic? You do understand what a Visa is, right? With few exceptions, it's basically permission to be in the country TEMPORARILY. If you're not meeting the conditions of the visa you can be told to leave.

.

Higher Ed is a product, and we have a lot of international students who want it.

A product they can consume via the internet from their home countries. You have no case here.
But they won't use it. They'll simply pay full tuition to European schools. Trump fucks us yet once again.

How is Trump fucking anybody? Do you think they take in foreign exchange students because they can't find American kids to enter college?

You don't know why no longer being a nation of laws would be problematic?

The for students will just enroll in schools in other countries. But you're probably good with that.

You people on the left are truly stupid. Yes I'm sure the student will switch to some shit community college in their home country vs Harvard. #sarcasm Christ pull your heads out of your ass you stupid morons.

In all actuality it depends on what what the student and their family, values.
A big name indoctrination center with 24/7 virtue signaling that will impress their friends or a place where you may actually learn marketable skills that will impress employers.
What we are doing to the students in this country is just not sustainable.

Defund the universities.

Yep

The amount of money that some of these universities have in endowments could fund a small country.

Maybe the left are afraid the students will return home, get a job, become conservatives and abandon the left.

They are funding the destruction of a very big country.

Teach people productive skills more, attempt to destroy countries less.

That would also apply to actual American Students too.
I can only imagine how many kids, being taught math at home this Spring, learned how to "carry the one" instead of drawing a series of boxes that end up covering the paper.

There are too many foreign students in the USA. Trump should crack down on student visas from hostile countries like China.

And the foreign students who are here should not be able to take STEM classes. STEM classes should be reserved for American students.
That makes no sense at all. Your undirected spite at the entire world does nothing positive for The United States.

There's no spite in my words. It's simply a national security issue.

You would weaken the nation to indulge your own fear. That's not an American attitude.

A fiancee visa is revoked without a fiancee. A B2 medical care vis revoked if you don't see a doctor. A student visa is revoked if you don't attendclasses.visa
