Use of force, including deadly force.

To the OP, I do not recommend going outside at night to engage a noise (although I have). Too many variables. If needed engage your telephonic communication device and contact the local gendarme with dispatch.

An AR-15 is identical to the M16 I carried in the army (except it doesn't fire full auto unless modified.) The weapon was specifically designed dor military use.

Nancy Lanza was a prepper crazy who had enough guns to fight off the Zombie Apocolypse.

so, you put your foot in your mouth?

Or you could look at it another way. a Flintlock was a 'military grade' weapon, that was actually used in war.
a Colt 1911 pistol is a 'military grade' weapon that was actually used in war. every firearm ever invented could be classed as a 'weapon of war'. So could knives, swords, pikes, halberds, etc.

Your 'military grade' weapon is bait, not fact.

(Nancy Lanza was a prepper crazy who had enough guns to fight off the Zombie Apocalypse.)

Hundreds, if not thousands, of firearm aficionados have far more weapons than she did.

That doesn't make them crazy.

Yeah, actually it does. Probably have tiny dicks, too.

Unlikely, as only 200 homicides a year are civilians killing criminals.

Compared to 19000 homicides which are criminals killing civilians.
Your numbers in every case are bullshit.

And killing the criminal isn't a requirement. Merely chasing them away is all that is needed. That happens hundreds of thousands of times a year. That also doesn't count the number of criminals who are WOUNDED. But, we all know that you lie because that's all you have.

But that wasn't your claim... Your claim was.

I think risking your life to steal from someone is incredibly stupid. You could get killed doing that.

Except very few "criminals" are killed by civilians. Only 200 or so are ruled "justified" by law enforcement. I'm not sure how many of those were attempted car robberies, but I'm pretty sure it's very few.

Chasing them away doesn't make them rethink their life of crime. They just go down and steal someone else's car.

Again, it's a fucking car.
I'm on my fifth car. I don't particularly miss any of the previous four bad enough to where I'd kill someone over them. I'd have to live with that the rest of my life.

That's nonsensical. Do you not understand that for some people, no car is a disaster?

Check your privilege. It's easy to be moral if you went to sleep last night with a full belly in a warm bed.

Follow your own advice. Step out of your ivory tower and into the real world, where people do not actually have full insurance coverage on the 15-year-old car they depend on to get to work!

50% of stolen cars are recovered by police. The rest are covered by insurance. Still not worth risking your life over. Cars can be replaced. Your life cannot.

Do you or do you not understand that not everyone has full insurance coverage on their cars! (Heck, I don't have comprehensive insurance on my Hyundai, it's not worth the cost on a ~$2000 car.) Every time I think you couldn't possibly be more out of touch, you squeeze out a jewel like this. For MANY people, a stolen car would be a catastrophe.

If someone is willing to risk jail to steal a car, a gun isn't going to be much of a deterrent, especially if they can get a gun of their own.

That's stupid.

I'm sorry you are such a loser in life, Ditchweed.

Do you think being involved in a fatal shooting over a car would be LESS of a disaster? The civil and criminal costs are going to cost you far more than replacing car.

Joeb, proving yet again that socialists don't give a shit about the poor, they only care about power.

I occasionally forget how stupid you are. Thank you for reminding me (yet again) that I have to spoon-feed you even the basic facts in most cases.

I have a hot rod and a motorcycle, both with full insurance coverage. Because I do not want to drive my Duster on salted roads, I ALSO have a 15-year-old Accent with ~194,000 miles that I bought because it was cheap, got 30+MPG, and has a manual transmission. I'm a car guy, always have been. I have usually had at least one beater (a Jeep Cherokee, several trucks) for the winter, to keep salt off my nice cars.

Which is why it should be 100% legal to simply shoot the thief on sight.

Well, that would make sense if we actually addressed the underlying roots of crime - Poverty, Racism, Mental Illness, addiction, and gun proliferation. The Europeans and Japanese either address these problems or don't have them as a factor, and they have nowhere near our crime rates.
