Video Of Ferguson Shooting

THis is what the blacklivesmatters crap really is....It is a mixture of gangs, thugs and political assholes that want to kill white people and disband the police.

Holy shit. Really? A movement based around stopping the police from killing black people is *really* about killing white people?

Has to be something. Because the odds of a black man being killed by police....is statistically so tiny it's barely even relevant.

0.0003 of arrests end in deaths.
Of that 0.003 that do...about 1/3 are white.

So....about any individual black person who is being arrested has a 0.001% chance of dying....and most of that is if THEY initiate the attack on the cop.

IMAGINE how small that 0.001 number becomes if a black person doesn't fight the cops....OR...just doesn't commit crime in the first place?

Afterall....if Big Mike had A) Not robbed a gas station B) Not jay walked C) Not attacked Darren Wilson.......He'd still be with us today.

The issue with black folks being killed by police is one of justice. And not in an esoteric philosophical sense. But genuine, real world accountability. In the past a black man could be killed by the police.....and there was functionally no recourse. While if a black man were killed by another black man, there were legal channels, arrests, etc that could be pursued. The killer could be arrested. Hell, if this were a gang member, another gang member might shoot them in retaliation.

But in the case of the cops, there was virtually nothing. Worse, the police were used as weapons against black folks to enforce segregation, deeply racist laws, and grossly disproportionate focus on the black community by the police. With black men in particular viewed as objects of suspicion rather than citizens to be protected under the law.

The issues are much less acute now. But your own stats reveal that police killings disproportionately affect black men, who make up about 6 % of the population but more than half of those killed by police. People break the law all the time. People resist arrest all the time. But black men are more often killed by police for it.

Stopping this is what 'Black Lives Matter' is all about.

Your stat is wrong. Blacks make up about 1/3 killed by cops. Around 180 out of 400-500 a year. Out of 14,000,000 total arrests. Out of 330,000,000 total citizens.

I'm citing most of this from memory. On this stat, I confused those of color with black men. Minorities make up more than half, black men make up about a third. However....the stat of 400 a year is only justifiable homicides by police, based on FBI stats. It doesn't include any of the unjustified killings. And only 5% or so law enforcement agencies report on justifiable homicides by police. Meaning that the stat of those killed by the police is likely a gross understatement.

The stats are readily available.

Not on this topic, shockingly. Many a researcher has lamented on how poor the data on this topic is:

Criminal justice experts note that, while the federal government and national research groups keep scads of data and statistics— on topics ranging from how many people were victims of unprovoked shark attacks (53 in 2013) to the number of hogs and pigs living on farms in the U.S. (upwards of 64,000,000 according to 2010 numbers) — there is no reliable national data on how many people are shot by police officers each year.

And...

There are 3000 unspecificed deaths a year from which people killed by police could be hidden.

Politifact did the research. They said the 400ish number is "mostly true".

NO DEATH at the hands of law enforcement goes unreported....unless it's a rogue cop who commits a murder that no one knows about. If the department command is aware...a report is done.

This "unreported" myth means the Feds just don't track it. Because it's not a national issue. It's local and statistically rare.

The reason unjustified shootings aren't counted by Feds in the police shootings category.....is because they're counted in the "murder" category. Just as if a fireman or lawyer murdered someone.

Stop buying this nonsense.

Politifact did the research. They said the 400ish number is "mostly true".

In that same article, Politifacts fact checked the website 'Killed By Police' and found that in one month alone the police killed 98 people via shootings and another 16 mostly via taser. With criminologist David Klinger affirming that these numbers wouldn't be unexpected.

114 in one month. Making the estimate of 400 in a year almost certainly wrong.

NO DEATH at the hands of law enforcement goes unreported....unless it's a rogue cop who commits a murder that no one knows about. If the department command is aware...a report is done.

But it isn't necessarily reported to the FBI, which is your source for the '400 a year' figure. Only a tiny fraction of law enforcement agencies report to the FBI on the topic of those killed by police. Worse, that figure only includes justifiable homicides. Making it doubly incomplete.

And as your own article demonstrates, the monthly total is more than a quarter the yearly total of 'justifiable homicides'. Using the month verified by Politifacts as a primer, the yearly totals would exceed 1300 a year. More than 3 times the total given by the FBI.

And remember, this would only include those deaths involving police reported in the news. The actual number could be higher still.

This "unreported" myth means the Feds just don't track it. Because it's not a national issue. It's local and statistically rare.
The stat you're citing is the Feds number. So if the feds don't track it then by your own admission, your number isn't tracking the actual numbers. Debunking your entire 'unreported myth' claim.

And the 'national issue' claims are invalid. The FBI compiles numbers on rapes, murders, property crime, etc....all 'local'. There is no reason beyond the fact that almost no local agencies are reporting these numbers that the FBI doesn't have them.

This is information we should have. And the scarcity and poor quality of the data should be deeply disturbing for anyone looking into this issue.

The reason unjustified shootings aren't counted by Feds in the police shootings category.....is because they're counted in the "murder" category. Just as if a fireman or lawyer murdered someone.

And how many unjustified homicides by police a year are there?

You have no idea. Which is exactly my point.

Holy shit. Really? A movement based around stopping the police from killing black people is *really* about killing white people?
Everyone martyr they stand behind was trying to kill a white person, just before they were killed. If black people are standing up for black criminals who try to kill white people, i think that clearly demonstrates the rampant racism in the black community.

Every one, huh? Eric Garner was 'trying to kill a white person', huh? Because even the arresting officer didn't make that claim. Freddie Gray was 'trying to kill a white person', huh? While in custody in the back of a paddy wagon? Walter Lamer Scott was 'trying to kill a white person'....when he was shot 8 times trying to flee, with the cop who shot him on video planting a taser on his body?

In what world is it racist for anyone to object to these killings?

Without checking the article, I am betting they chose a summer month, which traditionally, the murder rate runs much higher.
Will this year's numbers be higher than the approximate 400? Probably. Just as violence is up all over as well.

You'd have lost that bet. The month was March and it was last year. You're looking for an excuse to ignore the data. Even when you admitted don't know what you're talking about.

Why don't you look at the data before you commit to ignoring it? Here's 2013, a year where violence was lower. While killings by cops was skyhigh.

Killed By Police - 2013 768 from May 1-Dec. 31

You do realize your link includes taser related, accident related, those that had just killed others, etc.? if you are looking for unjustified numbers that is not the site for you to use.

Or is it you think police are never justified.

Yup. And shooting deaths. Which outnumber the tasers by a factor of about 6 to 1. And tasered dead is still dead. Choked to death is still dead. Run down with a car is still dead.

And all killed by cops. And in vastly higher numbers than those listed by the FBI.

You're just looking for more excuses to ignore. You have no interest in the evidence.

I do.
