What does the current iteration of conservatives have in common with fascism?

Some bullet points to consider:

  • Powerful and Continuing Expressions of Nationalism
  • Disdain for the Importance of Human Rights
  • Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
  • The Supremacy of the Military/Avid Militarism
  • Rampant Sexism
  • A Controlled Mass Media
  • Obsession with National Security
  • Religion and Ruling Elite Tied Together
  • Power of Corporations Protected
  • Power of Labor Suppressed or Eliminated
  • Disdain and Suppression of Intellectuals and the Arts
  • Obsession with Crime and Punishment
  • Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
  • Fraudulent Elections
What is Fascism?

Thanks to "Jim Bowie" for his suggestion that this post on a different thread be posted on its own. Now, I fully expect many responses will be ad hominem insults, idiot-grams and emoticons, and no actual effort to rebut the argument that the conservative movement has devolved into fascism.

It is obvious it has, and putting a flashlight on it is necessary to get some who support those whose rhetoric is framed by the bullet points to actually think.

Nothing.....

You have the wrong party.....the democrats display all the hallmarks of fascism/socialism, not the Republicans...even to their brownshirts breaking up the political meetings of their enemies......

Everything above...is found in mao's china, stalins russia, pol pots cambodia, and castro's cuba........

Here is the actual definition of fascism...everything you listed is simply cosmetic.....the real, core of fascism....is the core of the democrat party...

Fascism: The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics | Library of Economics and Liberty

As an economic system, fascism is socialism with a capitalist veneer. The word derives from fasces, the Roman symbol of collectivism and power: a tied bundle of rods with a protruding ax. In its day (the 1920s and 1930s), fascism was seen as the happy medium between boom-and-bust-prone liberal capitalism, with its alleged class conflict, wasteful competition, and profit-oriented egoism, and revolutionary Marxism, with its violent and socially divisive persecution of the bourgeoisie.
Fascism substituted the particularity of nationalism and racialism—“blood and soil”—for the internationalism of both classical liberalism and Marxism.
Where socialism sought totalitarian control of a society’s economic processes through direct state operation of the means of production, fascism sought that control indirectly, through domination of nominally private owners.

Where socialism nationalized property explicitly, fascism did so implicitly, by requiring owners to use their property in the “national interest”—that is, as the autocratic authority conceived it. (Nevertheless, a few industries were operated by the state.)
Where socialism abolished all market relations outright, fascism left the appearance of market relations while planning all economic activities. Where socialism abolished money and prices, fascism controlled the monetary system and set all prices and wages politically.

In doing all this, fascism denatured the marketplace.Entrepreneurship was abolished. State ministries, rather than consumers, determined what was produced and under what conditions.

The O. P. threw out a list of highly provocative propaganda points..obviously developed by a Socialist...and pretended they were all accepted facts...the opposite being true. Then he says, like he has already made his case:

"Now, I fully expect many responses will be ad hominem insults, idiot-grams and emoticons, and no actual effort to rebut the argument that the conservative movement has devolved into fascism".

And he got the opposite...he got routed it looks like to me. He got beat about the head and shoulders by Logic and Reason. And he ended up resorting to responses that amounted to ad hominem insults and idiot-grams.

The conservative movement in America is based purely on Jeffersonian Ideal of individual Liberty and Responsibility. And there have been valid points made to that effect, and the O. P has simply lost his argument...leaving him with nothing more than the ultimate left-wing fallback--elementary school name-calling.

Are you a liar, or a moron, or both?

The question asked in the OP is this:

Now, you are either as stupid or as intellectual lazy or as dishonest as most of the other clowns who posted above. And that is the problem manifest in the Crazy Right Wing!

The answer to the OP is "Nothing." Conservatism is the opposite of fascism. Socialism the mirror image of fascism. Trump is not a conservative. But Bernie Sanders is a socialist and he is a fascist.

Add to this the fear of diversity, dissent, and expressions of individual liberty.

Examples: Muslims being ‘registered’ with the government, mosques ‘investigated,’ and the unwarranted restriction of immigration.

The desire to compel conformity through force of law, and to disadvantage those who refuse to conform.

Examples: hostility to privacy rights, advocating ‘banning’ abortion, hostility to the rights of gay Americans, opposing same-sex couples marrying, seeking to disadvantage transgender Americans such as the measure recently enacted in North Carolina.

And the advocacy of simplistic, sophomoric ‘solutions’ to complex problems, a disdain for pragmatism, and a blind adherence to sanction political doctrine and dogma.

Examples: ‘build a wall’ on the US/Mexico border, make Supreme Court decisions subject to ‘popular vote,’ use of conventional military ground forces against ISIS.

It is important to note that no one is accusing conservatives of being ‘fascists’ – rather, this is a factual acknowledgement that conservatism is fundamentally authoritarian, reactionary, and fearful of change, characteristics shared with fascists, demonstrating why conservative dogma is for the most part wrong and should be rejected accordingly.

"Religion and Ruling Elite Tied Together"

This is a particularly disturbing manifestation of the bane of the social right, ignorance of, or contempt for, settled, accepted Establishment Clause jurisprudence, consistent with conservatives’ hostility toward diversity and individual liberty.

Excellent list.

Yep.....we've seen a perfect example of this at every GOP debate.......

Family Values
"The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and co-operation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life."[6]

No one is so blind as those who will not see. These are the facts:
  • In terms of ideology, the New Right (crazy right wingers) have more in common with radical Islam than with our Founding Principles
  • Bigotry has devolved into hate, and has become the new norm by the New Right (the CRW)
  • Prejudice has devolved into hate, and has become the new norm by members of the New Right (CRW)
  • Fear seems to be the instrument driving hate, fear being a product of ignorance and an emotion which clouds rational thinking
  • The truth may set us free, but the New Right believes truth to be an agenda for change, which creates in them fear and thus hate for anyone who advocates new ideas, new solutions to long term problems and of course a Supreme Court open to the realities of the 21st Century.

That's why you are not to be taken seriously.

You simply disagree but cannot post anything thoughtful and thus are incapable of honest discourse. Emotion clouds rational thinking.

You don't post facts so I don't need to disagree with anything. I can laugh, ignore or dismiss it.

To crazy people truth looks crazy.

I look forward to more logical fallacies from the crazy right wing, when you get backbut now I have errands to run. Back at ya in an hour or so.
Let us know when you get back from cashing your government check.
And it looks like CumCatcher has abandoned his own thread when the obvious was pointed out to him.
Progressives are fascists. Every one of them.
Bullshit
