If we know from experience a proposed solution is unworkable why blindly pursue it. As Einstein saidIf there is no panacea for crime why is the crime of mass shooting in a special solvable category? All of the hype over mass shooting is just that hype. Crime has been with humanity since the beginning and in the whole course of history no solution has been found. What is the solution to murder, robbery, fraud, bullying, adultry, child abuse, pedofilia, necrofilia, lying and etc., and etc.? Was prohibition the answer to excess drinking, the war on drugs the answer to drug abuse? When has prohibition ever been the answer to anything people wanted or wanted to do?
Q. (to first sentence) There are no panaceas to any crime on you list.
Prohibition generally creates a black market and criminal enterprises, and creates more criminals.
By implication what is the solution to mass shootings.
The answer lies in the solution to all crime.
There is no panacea or solution to mass shootings. Confiscation of all firearms in America is impossible, as is any way to learn who, where and when the next one will occur.
There are those crying for and demanding something that has been for the whole of human history impossible.
We can do something and take a win whenever we can or do nothing and just accept a total loss. We change what we can and accept what we can't change. If we save even one life then it's worth it.
"Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is insanity"
Your statement proves my point. Though owning a machine gun is not illegal it is difficult. Consequently there are many machine guns in circulation without question illegally most for tax issues. Just as heroin is illegal there is a large amount of it in circulation or any number of hard drugs. Where there is a demand it will be met.The original question has been asked many more times it remains a much better joke than mine.LolThis is from the Swiss Constitution. They do not have a right of freedom of speech, nowhere does it say that.In Switzerland, they DO have freedom of speech and press. In fact, their press is more free than ours is.
They like all of Europe are part of a fucked up collective...
True, we don’t have any real freedom in this country… Just like every other country
Art. 17 Freedom of the media
1 Freedom of the press, radio and television and of other forms of dissemination of features and information by means of public telecommunications is guaranteed.
2 Censorship is prohibited.
Your pronounced ignorance of other countries is astounding.
Thats best joke I’ve heard all day...
The serious question remains and remains unanswered
when has prohibition ever been the answer? Betcha don't/can't/won't answer that.
You lose. It's done through Regulation. Making the regulation so tight that it essentially is a ban. Like the 1934 Firearms Act was driven by the Thompson 45 SMG that was used for nefarious uses by organized criminals. Not only were they mowing each other down, innocents were caught in the cross fire. So they regulated it and created a special class for automatic weapons. They grandfathered it in. It became illegal to sell to non Firearms Licensed People, illegal to even give them even in an estate to your family members unless they had a proper Firearms license. The Parts to repair them were also regulated the same. They didn't confiscate the weapons unless they found them. They relied on taking them from criminals when they were busted. In about 10 years, the Thompson SMG all but disappeared from the normal channels. This can be done with any firearm. Even if there are millions of them in circulation. So I suggest you don't get too cocky.
