What was the biggest lie that re-elected Obama?

JeRK: "????????? where are those who are there to defend this admin?"

We are talking about your failed attempt to defend the Bush administration.

Americans have not forgot the horrible actions of the neo-con administration.

CBS didn't lie about GWB's service....he got a pass, being his father's son.
And no lie re-elected BHO. He was matched against the worst candidate in memory.

We're headed toward seven years since Dan Rather disgraced himself by running a story based on phony Texas Air National Guard documents to ruin George W. Bush on behalf of that "war hero" John Kerry. Despite the liberal media's acknowledgment that Rather misled the public, he has relentlessly presented himself as a pillar of truth and probity.

Rather spoke on Tuesday night at the Newseum in Washington, DC to questions from Nick (Father of George) Clooney. Katy Adams and Nikki Schwab of the Washington Examiner's Yeas & Nays column reported Rather thinks he's the teller of uncomfortable truths, and the people objecting to phony documents are somehow the falsifiers and fantasists:

Clooney did take on the elephant in the room, though — Rather’s resignation from CBS News in 2005 for using bogus documents in a story about former President George W. Bush’s National Guard service. “We reported a story that was true, that was an uncomfortable truth for a lot of people,” Rather said. “As a result to that I was asked to leave the anchor chair, and eventually CBS News.”

At the end of 2008, General Motors and Chrysler were bleeding billions of dollars a month, and nobody in the private sector wanted to lend to them. Even the supposedly liberal Brookings Institution put out a report saying they should be allowed to go bust, with their factories and machinery being sold off to the highest bidder. Today, things look very different. A few weeks ago, General Motors reported that it made $7.6 billion in profit last year. Even Chrysler, which is now controlled by Fiat, made money in 2011. So Biden was telling the truth when he said, in reference to the Republican candidates, that the President “made the tough call… [he] was right, and they were dead wrong.”
The only problem with Biden’s history lesson is that the “man with steel in his spine” he referred to should have been George W. Bush, not Barack Obama. Lest we forget, it was Bush rather than Obama who initiated the government rescue of the auto companies.

That is very intelligent what you said about FDR and yes that is sarcasm. Here is a link to 62 years of polling ranking the Presidents of the United States.

Historical rankings of Presidents of the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On polls conducted from 1948 to 2010, FDR has consistently been ranked 1st to 3rd on every poll taken. How is it logical to claim FDR is the worst President ever? If only you see it that way, why isn't it your opinion that sucks?

Only Abraham Lincoln has been ranked higher than FDR.

So how does 10 years of Grewat Depression and 5 years of world war make him a good president??

By that standard Bush was great too. He had two unsuccessful small wars and an economic collapse short of Depression!!

I think the biggest lie was that the GOP had something better to offer. Fortunately, enough people saw through that lie.

So how does 10 years of Grewat Depression and 5 years of world war make him a good president??

By that standard Bush was great too. He had two unsuccessful small wars and an economic collapse short of Depression!!

It's evident you totally lack the judgment to tell different things apart. That's why you will never agree with people who have good judgment. FDR didn't start the Great Depression and the unemployment rate was 25% when he took office. FDR didn't start WWII over WMD that wasn't there. Getting elected for 4 terms should tell you your opinion wasn't shared then and his ranking should tell you your opinion isn't shared now.

It should also be evident and I've mentioned it that great President require great events. I've made the point that if the Civil War didn't happen, Lincoln probably wouldn't be considered a great President. Washington's ranking gets hyped by the Revolutionary War and being first, so all Presidents during trying times are hard to compare to the others. The Presidents who were Founders, like Jefferson, Madison and Adams also get hyped. I don't see how William Henry Harrison can be evaluated and John F. Kennedy is hard to evaluate because of his assassination.

Historical rankings of Presidents of the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When you exclude the Presidents who were hyped and look at those considered good or bad, there are some consistent choices and a few that have changed with time. Warren G. Harding spent nearly 50 years being dead last or near it and James Buchanan was nearly equally disliked. Harding suffers from Teapot Dome and Buchanan from his inactivity prior to the Civil War. George W. Bush only had four Presidents ranked worse in the last poll, which was a big 20 change since 2005. Andrew Jackson, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower have been consistently high, but the true test for some requires how they are ranked in the future when they aren't as well known from personal experience.

The postings by EB denigrating FDR is proof positive he can't think clearly because of his bias.

That wasn't a lie, but surely Romney should have known better. He's young enough to know that the media records everything they can to get the Republican Presidential Nominees to fail.

He shouldn't have been tossing the bananas on the ground so that the media could take a picture of him tripping over his own banana peel.

The 47% include Medicare and SS recipients who paid for the services, the VA retirees and DAV pensioners, and so forth and so on. How very stupid of Mitt.

I agree Jake. But it wasn't a lie.

Didn't he say that there was no way any of the 47% would vote for him?

in the last 4 years we have had 8 million people leave the same

I heard the head of Amazon say the other day that the most important money in the history of his company was the first $50,000.
He said it was a miracle he raised that first 50k in venture capital. Perhaps if Barry had been around then to raise capital gains taxes on the evil Republican wealthy the $50,000 would not have been available and Amazon would have never gotten off the ground.

Capital gains is the back bone of business
It is BTW taxing money that has all ready been taxed
Investing monies you have earned as I do seems weird to then again to pay taxes on the 2000 I made on a 20,000 investment of monies I paid taxes on once
401ks are everything for middle class america
if you sell that capital prior to retirement that hit you with income and capital gains taxes
About 37% in all

crazy

Again it is/was long term capital gains that get the break, that is investments you hold for over a year. All others are taxed as regular income. Jr. you do not get taxed on your investment, only gains, profit, income. By the same measure you can deduct capital losses too.

Jr. you do not get taxed on your investment, only gains, profit, income.

too stupid but 100% liberal!! IF a VC firm gets taxed on its capital gains it then has less to invest and we have fewer Apples Google's Intels and Amazons!!!

Do you get it?? We want more not fewer Apples Googles Intels and Amazons!!

The 15% rate on long term capital gains didn't help stop the Bush recession did it?

Leonard Burman, who teaches economics at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School, presented a graph at the joint hearing that plotted capital gains tax rates against economic growth from 1950 to 2011. He found no statistically significant correlation between the two. This was true even if Burman built in lag times of five years. After several economists took him up on an offer to share his data, none came back having discovered a historical relationship between the rates and growth over those six decades.

The difference is more money in American's pocket.

The Great Recession was caused by the Bush housing policies, nothing else. If the Republicans could not rein in minority dems, then they should not have been in charge.

OMG!!you complete idiot liberal!! The recession was caused by liberal housing policy!! It had nothing to do with the capital gains tax!!

The bubble was a wealth bubble that was a direct result of ass-set driven over priced real estate

your correct. the 15% capital gains created very much wealth.
If not for the greed that was born of low interest rates and banks accepting fraud to loan monies on those assets, it still would be climbing

We created close to 8 million jobs from 03 to early 08
