When did the Republican Party become the party that hates authority???

Yes that is my sig line.

The first three reflect the thoughts of the Founders when they wrote the 2nd Amendment. That every man who is a free man has the right to own a firearm. Which is quite contrary to the current thinking of the Liberals, Left, Democrats, Gun Grabbers.A flat pout lie and you are a publum lapper of the right

The last line is there simply to make it simple for those Liberal, Left, Democrats, and Gun Grabbers to understand. You say you have the right to control my guns, which is my Constitutionally protected right to own, so does that mean I get to control your Abortions, which you believe is your Constitutionally protected right?Your right wing scotus has ALREADY said gun laws are perfectly constitutional

It is a shame that I actually had to explain that to you. I would have thought that a person posting to a Political board would be able to understand that without having to have it explained.

You used lies to explain your self.

Get this one straight.

This country will NEVER again make a womans right to choose how her life unfolds illegal.

This country will NEVER allow you to have any weapon your little heart desires.

You have already lost all these legal battles and your so stupid and blind you pretend you have not.

makes you look really badly informed and not very bright

WOW I lied??

Where?

Molon Labe does mean "Come and Take" Google it .

The quotations are real... Google them.

Did I say I wanted to control a woman's life? I simply asked a question.. If you have the "power" to restrict my rights, do I have the same to restrict yours?

What I think is happening here is that you can't refute my sig line with honest debate so you simply resort to the Ad Hom attack by calling me a liar and questioning my knowledge and intelligence.

Of course I am used to that procedure. I have been posting on political boards since the mid-80's and it is a common tactic among the left.

A word on TM, Board concensus has put her IQ somewhere between that of a rock, and a really really dumb rock.

Point out the words "abortion" and "right" related to each other in the text of the consitution.

I can find "arms" and "right" within a few words of each other.

point to the words that say abortion is illegal?

Doesnt work like that. If something is not conceded as a right, the status of it is left to the legislatures, preferentially state legislatures.

Point to the words that say owning a semi automatic rifle is be illegal.

Since when did the GOP and right wing become the anti-authority party? I remember in my 20's, the GOP was the "Law and Order" party. Yes sir-eee, they were the party of law, order, manners, men in uniform, and they'd be damned if some pot smokin', cop hating hippies would ever run this glorious country.

They were the party that loved the military. That held cops in high esteem. That believed our public schools were a place of discipline and order. They were the party that believed in social standards. And order. And if you grew up without it, the school, or the mayor, or the sheriff, or your football coach, or your neighbor would give you what your daddy was too scared to: Discipline and some manners.

WHERE IN THE HELL DID THAT GOP GO????? Its turned into a bunch of radical, government hating rednecks who are talking about building survivalist fortresses in Idaho, who are bashing teachers, cops, firemen, and saying public schools are the work of the devil hahaha!!!!

The anti-government antics of the 60's radicals, that the GOP used to look down on, are now the norm for the right wing, with the far right beginning to look more and more like the anti-govt 60's radicals by the day.

I dont know when this anti-government shift in the GOP happened. Some say it was on or around....say....01/20/2009. I dont know. But it is sad, scary, and yes, dangerous.

It managed to get to the highest level of government in Reagan's days when it took the position that government wasn't the solution and was the problem. Reagan went on to prove that government was the problem with him running it. He tripled the national debt, bought a bunch of military programs that became mothballed, never serving our national defense needs and turned his back on the American people.

What you are seeing is the blossom of how the modern conservative fusion bears fruit. They bred themselves with anarchists in the mid-50s and with the help of the Koch Bros., whose dad help start the John Birch Society, they are finally able to show their influence throughout the party level. These anarchists are still a minority, but the Republican establishment is afraid to keep them in check.

He also forced the soviet economy to try to match ours due to thier need to increase defense spending, crippling it and leading to the end of the Cold War.

People in Eastern Europe LOVE the man.

I am from a CENTRAL European country, Hungary and my greatest heroes are Ronald Reagan, Pope John Paul II and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

The fact that Michael Gorbachev got the Nobel Peace Prize, while herring-chomping Socialist bird brains in Oslo ignored Ronald Reagan, forever tainted the credibility and the value of the Nobel Peace Prize. Then, awarding it to total jerks like Al Gore and Barack Obama, totally ruined the reputation of a once esteemed institution.

BTW, look at the map of Europe. If you call former Soviet dominated countries like Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia Eastern European, you are either blind or stupid.

Former EASTERN EUROPEAN Soviet dominated countries would be Georgia, Azerbaidjan and Armenia.

This may be overly optimistic but I think you're describing the schism rather than the RP; the ongoing intraparty civil war. True conservatives are not interested in whether gay people get married or whether some demented street preacher's YouTube video claims the President was born in Kenya. That's the wacko fringe trying to hijack the party and to be sure, making serious inroads. I trace it back to the divisive demagogue "social conservatism" of Rush Limblob on the secular side and the Jerry Falwell/Pat Robertson wingnuts on the religious side (a side that of course has no business being in politics at all). Clearly this is not the party of Eisenhower or even Goldwater.

They make a lot of noise but the true conservatives need to stand up to them. The more courageous do that and refuse to descend to that level , but not enough are courageous enough. And the sensationalistic mass media inflates them to look larger than they are because they love drama.

So it may be an uphill battle but I like to think it's not too late. I know one of us here believes it's beyond help and that the RP should die and be replaced by a new truly Conservative party. He may be right but it seems like even more angst to me, plus it would require a whole new party to be organized, during which time we get a vacuum (we're already getting it as the RP deteriorates). Vacuum is not good; we need to have a balance at all times. Perhaps I'm more conservative about Conservatism and would prefer to see it repaired rather than rebuilt from scratch.

The wags in the media who spend all their time demonizing and polarizing politics as if "we're the good guys, them's the enemy" are the Eliminationists striving for a one-party State. Actually reaching such a goal would be disaster, regardless which one party was the one. We see their sycophants among the posters here spewing a constant vitriol of blanket statements and in so doing, identifying themselves as propagandists of everything that is anti-American.

YOU lied when you said the people want to take your guns.

Its a lie to say that.

Your the one who intenating that you will pit a bullet in someones flesh who tries to take your gun.

You are either anti choice or choice.

When did the Republican Party become the party that hates authority???

The moment they weren't in authority.

its "your either with us or agin' us " ewhen they are in power.

But when the country elects someone who doesnt share their desire to destroy the country then the government is evel all over again.

the modern republican party is worthless to this democracy

Edit : BTW, I do have the Constitution on my side. Fortunately I am able to read and the Constitution is written in basic English. It says what it says, not what you wished it said.. or didn't say.

Reagan's mantra that "government is not the solution to our problems, government is the problem" -- while at the same time running for the top government job-- was one of the strangest and most ironic political statements I've ever heard. Logically it makes no sense at all, but this was the era of the mass media movie star president when image and perception overtook realities in terms of political value. It's a panderation designed to shoot straight to the heart while bypassing the intellect. As such it was a disservice to discourse. We've been living on more mindless memes and sound bites ever since.

The B-1 was designed for low level penetration of soviet airspace... of course its no longer used. We would kill for a 600 ship navy, and quality doesnt matter if your ships are spread out all over the damn place. The Marines right now love the Osprey, and something that was such a technological leap was bound to have growing pains.

Just because you dont like the guy doesnt mean you have to make crap up about him

I also see you turned your rep off. What size is your pink tutu now?

I've done analysis of the Reagan military proposals and they were a waste of money that didn't provide for the national defense.

B-2 bombers can also penetrate Soviet air space and the navy doesn't want large amounts of ships that are low quality.

Stealth was the whole purpose of the MX missile program and it meant the Soviets had little chance of a successful first strike. Reagan did away with the underground transport to multiple silos and produced missiles that were later destroyed.

Reagan lacked vision in military spending and every program he supported was a waste of money.

The Osprey was a fiasco.

From thw wikipedia article:

On 18 February 2011, Marine Commandant General James Amos indicated Marine MV-22s deployed to Afghanistan surpassed 100,000 flight hours and were noted as having become "the safest airplane, or close to the safest airplane” in the Marine Corps inventory.[117] The average V-22 mishap rate based on flight hours over the past 10 years, has been approximately half the accident rate for the USMC aircraft fleet. The V-22's accident rate is the lowest of any Marine rotorcraft.[118] Wired Magazine has reported that the recent safety record has been achieved only by excluding V-22 ground incidents; one such incident claimed the life of one crew member.[119] The Marines responded that MV-22 reporting is done by the same standards as all other aircraft in the Department of the Navy.[120]

Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It seems to be working pretty good now, with some minor issues. For such a radical new type of aircraft, it doesnt seem too bad.

I also find your "better ships, not more ships" comical as the ships authorized at the time were better than almost anything on the oceans for any other navy.

And please publish your "analysis" of Reagans' military spending. probably a term paper from your high school days.

and did I get the tutu color wrong for when you turned of your rep? Is it a lime green?

Try examining the whole thing for a change!

It should be obvious why the need for a troop transport to bring troops quickly to an area was and is important. The only thing that existed was the Boeing CH-47 Chinook, which has obvious limitations. The V-22 Osprey was proposed after the failed Iran hostage rescue mission in 1980. Posting some article about being pleased that a 30 year program has finally produced some results is rather meaningless, because the reality is the only other option is to use the CH-47 Chinook.

If I wanted to take advantage of the technology that existed in those days, I wouldn't be building what is essentially another helicopter. Both vertical take off and stealth technology existed then, so why wouldn't I incorporate that technology? Why build a helicopter when you can build a jet transport? Transports only require multiple jet engines working together and the technology to do that existed then. Why not incorporate stealth technology to erase the radar signature, instead of making something that has to fly low to avoid radar and is very loud and slow moving? If Reagan wanted to spend money on the military, why not produce a product that can quickly get elite forces deep into enemy territory and do it without being noticed? The technology existed, but the vision didn't, because Reagan was little more than a B movie draft dodger during WWII. Reagan could act military, but he couldn't do it. All of Reagan's concepts for the military produced shitty results and wasted government spending. If you think Reagan's military spending impress the Soviets, their analysts must have been saying: Look at these Americans, they'll waste money on everything!

The V-22 Osprey program was a disaster. I can't think of any program that costed more than originally estimated to accomplish or took longer to complete. Sophisticated weapon's systems and aircraft were developed much faster than the Osprey. So what if this Jurassic Park program has finally gotten off the ground, we could have had a Holocene (age of mankind) program after all that amount of time. The V-22 Osprey is 30 years of wasted time developing a dinosaur technology that has detracted from our military readiness.

Have you ever seen the ships Reagan wanted to use for his 600 ship navy? I've seen the mothballed WWII fleet that Reagan tried to rebuild, instead of building modern ships. It was totally a waste of money trying to get worthless quantity, instead of quality. That's what happens when you don't allow the experts running the show and have some deranged old man calling the shots. War isn't an acting job and I don't think Reagan ever learned the difference.

Because jet engines are far less efficent than turboprops, reducing the amount of cargo the TRANSPORT can carry. Transports are also designed for areas of air superiority, thus stealth is less important. Stealh coatings also increase maintenance requirements. Having a harrier hover for a bit is one thing, having a transport be able to lift, drop, or hover on a dot is something else.

Plenty of those "WWII" ships were actually Cold War ships, only the Battleships had real WWII pedigrees, and those worked just fine as Cruise missile platforms and gun batteries.

You can type all the bullcrap you want, the end result is you hate Reagan, and you make up crap just to justify your position.

And I guess I got your tutu color wrong again. Puce?

Good geeawd do you have strange voices in your head?

Its stupid bull shit like this that is more of a problem then say the Dems spending habits.

If you could actually back up your BS with something of substance, other than what you post ,you might be onto something.

Since when did the GOP and right wing become the anti-authority party?

When the authority became the purveyors of entitlement and fundamentally changing the nation.

My memories of that GOP were from the 80's and 90's. Entitlements existed long before that, and the GOP pro-authority culture was thriving back then.

SS, Medicare, Medicaid are soaring NOT because of some entitlement culture, but, more because of an obesity epedemic that is causing a shitload of other diseases, AND because people are living longer (medicine, baby boomers).

We went into two massive wars that have gone on for a decade each. That shit, right or wrong, costed a lot. War is not an entitlement, it is a tragedy.

Both of the above fundamentally changed the nation. The GOP birthed Homeland Security, so it's not all liberal lefties doing it.

This issue is far more complex than the typical Fox News mantra "Less government good, more taxes baaaad (in a deep Southern accent)".

You're such a simpleton. New Deal era programs... The Great Society... entitlement, etc. will be our undoing if not fixed.

But hey, blame it all on GWB and Iraq.

Now let me remind you again.

Your right wing lead scotus has ALREADY said that gun laws are perfectly constutitional.
