Why Do Liberals Deny America's Christian Founding and Heritage?

of course they are. where do you think the moral progress since Rome came from if not from Christianity?? Did you ever wonder why we count time from the birth of Christ??

The moral progress of the world owes just a part to Christianity, to deny the other 41/2 billion people of other religions is dishonest.

too stupid and liberal of course. The world was recreated by American values after WW2, and now it is spreading to USSR, China and India. They are not leading us toward the future dear. We are leading them. Do you understand?

You are entitled to whatever fantasy the drugs lead you to.
. The world was recreated by American values after WW2, and now it is spreading to USSR, China and India. They are not leading us toward the future dear. We are leading them. Do you understand?

Spouting more nonsense? The world has competing religious values that's why we are at odds so much with the rest of the world. Read a newspaper once in a while.
It's not worth it. You could resurrect the founders from the dead and have them tell Special Ed directly to his face that he's wrong and he would just dismiss them as Liberals and spout off his nonsense at them until they got bored and wandered off.

He had no use for organized religion.

dear, our subject is not organized religion. Do you know why you are trying to change subject?

Nice if you to admit that Jesus is the source of Western values.

You are changing the subject Eddie, we are talking about Jefferson's view of religion. I did not say Jesus is the source of Western values, I said Jefferson appreciated his philosophy.

Dear you said this:
"The Founders were very much human not inspired by or instructed by God to write the documents that established this country and we should be both respectful and proud of that fact."

Would you like to revise it??

Why would I want to revise something that is true? The Founders were more likely Deists when it came to the Constitution. Jefferson was skeptical of traditional religion, he did not believe in the Trinity, he did not believe in the virgin birth, and he did not believe in the divinity of Jesus, he did not believe in the Resurrection, he did not believe in original sin. Washington hated the Communion service of his church he often left before it began.

Anyone who reads the writings from the founding era will encounter countless declarations that God helped found America, that God helped the Patriots defeat the British army, and that God founded America to be a beacon of Christianity to the world. Such sentiments are plastered throughout writings from the founding period.

Yet, many if not most liberals claim that America was founded as a secular nation. They quote a small handful of documents that seem to contradict America's godly heritage. They quote, for example, the Treaty of Treaty, but ignore the circumstances in which that treaty was written, not to mention the fact that they ignore the numerous founding-era statements that plainly contradict that treaty. They also ignore the countless statements from the generations following the founding era.

When FDR referred to preserving "our religion" in his nationally broadcast prayer for the success of the D-Day invasion, what religion do liberals suppose he had in mind?

A few liberals acknowledge America's Christian heritage and simply argue that that heritage is outdated and should be rejected. But, most liberals argue that America was founded as a secular country, when in fact primary sources from the founding era and from subsequent generations clearly prove otherwise.

The U.S. was founded by people who specifically wrote laws into the constitution to prevent the zealously religious from writing their religious beliefs into law. They were well read on history and knew how bad things get when you start down that road. This country has many wonderful religious people who mix their religious beliefs with common sense and compassion. But there are some segments of the population, such as evangelical "christians," who would transform our country into Iran 2.0 if they had the power.

They should have made Christianity the State Religion with a tolerance to let other religions or non religions peacefully coexist. The problem we now have are Christian haters who shit themselves anytime God is muttered at a public high school graduation, a nativity scene at a courthouse, or a cross honoring US Veterans. The clear reality is that Christians founded US and provide more tolerance and acceptance than anywhere in the world

Had the U.S. been founded by anyone but Christians, we would not achieve this level of tolerance and freedom. We are a Christian Nation.

Yeah just like we coexisted with Native Americans and blacks right?

If evangelical christians were in charge of this country we'd look just like Iran.

Because Iran is an evangelical Christian country?

It, for intents and purposes of this conversation, is an evangelical Muslim country. The U.S. has moderate Christians in power. If evangelicals/religious crazies were in power and were the majority, as is the case with Iran, we would look very much like Iran. Remember Iran's Muslims and evangelical Christians share a great many beliefs.

An evangelical Christian country would look just like an evangelical Muslim country?

Between you and your cat, you think you're the smart one, don't you?

I gave you an answer Eddie, you haven't proved a single element of your position.

The Declaration of Independence, as the Constitution, relied on people's approval, and both were political in nature. Jefferson's job was to write a document that garnered support, and not to anger the Christians or non-Christians of that period. The Constitution also needed to be ratified and it too was handled with care, so as not to anger Christians and non-Christians.
A Bill of Rights were promised to the anti-Federalists and added after the Constitution was ratified.

Yes a founding by religious moderates who knew the dangers of religion being hijacked by crazy people.

That's nicely said, still ministers attacked it from the very beginning and have excoriated it for the specific charge that Christianity was not mentioned in the Founding documents. They have been arguing that point for more than 200 years, yet the Founders were specific we are a secular country and better off for it.

dear, there were no non Christians to speak of. His job was to declare independence based on nature's God. There was no basis for the revolution without God's law. Our country was founded on the Christian God and his values.

Yes. An evangelical Christian country would look like an evangelical Muslim country. Their beliefs are very similar. What separates America is that we don't enforce the crazier parts of our religious book.

No, they created a country based on the free worship of religion.....very different from what you are saying....and comparing evangelicals to muslims...not even close...

If only the christians were half as close to the fevered dreams of the left as muslims actually are, they would actually deserve some of the ridicule the left has for them.....and yet the left defends muslim extremism to the end.......which actually does every last thing the left accuses the christians of doing...

the left are batshit crazy....

"Why Do Liberals Deny America's Christian Founding and Heritage?"

Another ridiculous lie from the right.

Liberals correctly understand the role religion played during the Foundation Era, acknowledge that role, and place it in its proper context – that it was the intent of the Framing Generation to create a secular Republic, whose citizens are subject to the rule of law, immune from attack by religious intolerance and extremism, where religion has a place in government but is not the dominant dogma.

No, it was a country where people could freely practice their religion without interference from the central government.

"So today, though Islam is my religious philosophy, my political, economic and social philosophy is black nationalism. You and I – [applause] As I say, if we bring up religion, we'll have differences, we'll have arguments, and we'll never be able to get together. But if we keep our religion at home, keep our religion in the closet, keep our religion between ourselves and our God, but when we come out here we have a fight that's common to all of us against a enemy who is common to all of us. "
-Malcolm X

Interesting that you would quote a rabid, racist.......

Revolution Justified by God
Many Revolutionary War clergy argued that the war against Britain was approved by God. In this sermon Abraham Keteltas celebrated the American effort as "the cause of truth, against error and falsehood . . .the cause of pure and undefiled religion, against bigotry, superstition, and human invention . . .in short, it is the cause of heaven against hell--of the kind Parent of the Universe against the prince of darkness, and the destroyer of the human race."

Evangelical "Christians" share far more beliefs with Muslims than you are comfortable admitting. I have zero doubt that if they were the majority in this country and left up to their own devices for a hundred years, we'd have many of the same laws like imprisoning gays and covering up our women as Iran does.

Good! you're starting to get educated. The problem is that Revolutionary war clergy had nothing to do with influencing the Founders train of thought. The sons and daughters of those ministers have been trying to amend the constitution for 200 years to include Christianity and Jesus Christ.
