The Declaration of Independence, as the Constitution, relied on people's approval, and both were political in nature. Jefferson's job was to write a document that garnered support, and not to anger the Christians or non-Christians of that period. The Constitution also needed to be ratified and it too was handled with care, so as not to anger Christians and non-Christians.
A Bill of Rights were promised to the anti-Federalists and added after the Constitution was ratified.
