Why I Don't Believe

does that mean a theist doesn't actually say there is a god, only that he believes there is, but doesn't have proof?......./just checking.....

I'm not sure who you are addressing. If you say you know there is a god I will ask you for your evidence. If you can't produce it, then you are expressing a belief. Of course, you may well believe you know but I do not accept it as knowledge solely on that assertion.

so you would reject the definition of atheist that was proposed?.....

Yes.

The scoffer, the worst form of fool, is not only to be avoided, but is to be driven away.
Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go out, Even strife and dishonor will cease.

I have to assume you have never actually read the teachings of Jesus, or you just think he was wrong.

on the other hand, it may just be the following of his instructions to turn our backs on those who refuse to listen and shake their dust from our feet......

No. That would be a very bad misunderstanding of those instructions. When Jesus said that he meant his disciples were to leave. Not for them to drive those who disagreed with them out of town. You do see the difference there, don't you?

agnostic atheist.

can't make up your mind?......would that be like a Muslim Buddhist?.....or a fat skinny lady?.....maybe a white black man........

Don't you get it? For us to say we are 100% certain there is no god would be just as ignorant as someone saying they believe 100% that there is a god.

They would have to have been alive and seen Jesus do miracles to be that certain. Same for us. I wasn't there. But the stories are unbelievable so the most probable truth is they are not real. No Adam & Eve, Mosus, Jesus, Mohammad, Abraham, etc. All just man made up stories.

The other thing is I don't know what is on the other end of a black hole. Could be anything. Do I suggest I know? No. It is your side that suggests there is an invisible man and he cares for a very small percentage of us and the rest he sends to hell.

And it doesn't matter if you believe organized religion or not, if you still believe in a god it's because they still have you slightly brainwashed. But don't worry because it is very common. In fact we've believed in a higher power as long as we can remember. Even the apes looked up in wonder. All animals have a natural and healthy fear of the unknown. Not to mention we've all been brainwashed with god since we were little babies. Remember Santa? Do you still believe? He too was designed to teach about naughty and nice.

Anyways, agnostic atheist is the most rational position to have. Pretty sure there is no god but who knows. The probability is very low. And you folks that try to re define what god is. That's not helping at all. Either god is what the majority of people think god is or we are talking about something else. I love it when you lower the bar. Did he or did he not create us in his image? Did he or did he not send himself in the form of jesus to be sacrificed? If you don't believe all that, what do you have?

As a young teen, I grew up in a neighborhood with both Christians and Jews and one day while walking I tried to reconcile why one God would have more than one religion. I considered the possibilities:
1 – All religions were true – this seemed unlikely since there were almost an infinite number across the planet and they appeared to fundamentally contradict one another in their morality, concept of God(s), history, etc.
2 – One religion was true while all others were false – this too seemed unlikely as why would God allow people to grow up learning lies and then judge them? Ideally it seemed God would want children to grow up without a religion and would, when they were adult enough to decide for themselves, choose which religion was true based on reason, morality, etc. It would be a conscious decision, not one made for them by their parents or community so if God were to later judge them at least they had a shot at salvation. Obviously this has never been the norm anywhere at any time in the past.
3 – No religion was true – this seemed the only logical answer then and didn’t seem so radical when I realized that if #2 above were true the majority of people in the world were WRONG. It seemed a modest leap from believing most people were wrong to all people were wrong (at that time I didn’t know anyone who admitted to me they did not believe in God).
Despite a lifetime of inquiry, I’ve never found a reason to change this decision.
So, let Me get this straight.

You cannot conceive a thing, so everyone else is wrong.

Do I have that right?

I would agree. I think the problem that we are seeing, is that most theists don't know the difference between agnosticism and atheism. They seem to think those are 2 different positions on the same issue. Fact is, they deal with two separate issues.

Why did god bother doing the Noah flood if the new people that re populated the earth would end up crucifying jesus?

He ended paradise on earth because adam ate an apple. So he tempted him and knew what would happen. Doesn't god know he didn't make us perfect? So he should have already known man would become assholes.

So anyways, after he flooded the earth, we repopulated the planet with new assholes. Why did god bother doing the flood in the first place? And why go through sending yourself down in the form of Jesus to have us kill you/him? What did that solve or prove? Today we have a new bunch of assholes. Their called Christians.

Funny when I told my atheist friend the most rational position is agnostic atheist he got mad at me and I asked him how he could possibly know what's on the other side of a worm hole or black hole and he understood. Atheists can't know there is no god.

I think atheists are 100% certain the christian, muslim & jewish stories are all made up. I think that is why they are 100% certain. I'm 100% certain Muslims, Jews and Christians are fos too. Or I'm 99.9999% sure anyways. I wasn't there. Maybe god did talk to people all the time before video tapes, cameras, microphones, audio video was invented and as soon as we could document/film it POOF he disappeared. :eusa_liar:

Atheists want to not believe in GOD because they have allowed satan to blind them and because they love their pet sins.

BUT KNOW! THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH AND HELL!!!! ALL YOUR CHOICE,you can't try to blame GOD!!!

We all believe most everyone else is wrong. If you're a Christian you believe all Muslims are wrong, if you're an atheist you believe all theists are wrong. Seems obvious to me. We all believe we're right (or we'd believe differently) and since no one is in the majority when it comes to religion, we have to believe most people are just plain wrong. No arrogance required.

WE ARE TO SEEK TRUTH!!! AND WHEN YOU SEEK TRUTH YOU WILL FIND ALMIGHTY GOD!!! GOD is revealed in His holy inspired (GOD BREATHED) WORD!!

So you are banking your eternal life on a 13 yr. old's intellect and understanding. And have gotten no farther as an adult. And therein lies the problem. It is time to mature.

Find the God that has laid out the future, and ask your teen mentality how one God was able to give you the 5 o'clock news on Israel, 2,000 years ago, and rethink what you surmised as a child. :eusa_angel:

dude, first of all there is no such thing as a "agnostic atheist", you are one or the other.....secondly, of course I believe atheists who say there is no God but refuse to admit it's a faith choice, are ignorant......

It is quite simple....Christians and Muslims and Buddhists make a faith choice.....they freely admit they believe something and that those who believe something contradictory are wrong......atheists also believe something, but claim its a rational conclusion.....since they have no more proof of what they believe than the Christians or Muslims or Buddhists it is obviously not a "rational conclusion".......therefore, atheists alone are irrational......for claiming that which is a faith choice is reason.....

Isn't the story that god created hell? If god created me. Then he created me the way I am. Then he gets to send me to hell, that he created, because of the way I am? That's pretty "unloving"!

GOD created hell for all evil, satan, demons, but you are FREEto chose to reject God's love AND CHOSE HELL=============God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.

18 “There is no eternal doom awaiting those who trust him to save them. But those who don’t trust him have already been tried and condemned for not believing in the only Son of God. 19 Their sentence is based on this fact: that the Light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 They hated the heavenly Light because they wanted to sin in the darkness. They stayed away from that Light for fear their sins would be exposed and they would be punished. 21 But those doing right come gladly to the Light to let everyone see that they are doing what God wants them to.”

Again, god created EVERYTHING. So, he created evil, satan, demons, etc... Satan would have PROOF of god and still rejected him. And so I am free to not believe he exists, based on the evidence of existence he has given me (none), make the choice using the brain he gave me, and go to hell all because he wasn't able to make contact with me?

So, I could spend my life, doing nothing but good works..........donating to charities, helping my fellow man in every way I can, make life altering discoveries that will vastly improve mankind...........but if I do this while NOT believing in a space daddy, I go to hell!? Is that in anyway a rational belief?

WRONG!!!!!!!!!! EVIL,SATAN and demons are the creation of those that love evil and sin. evil and sin are satan and man's creation!!!TRY TO THINK!

Doesn't "Ezekiel 28:12-15" tell a different story?
