I think that the idea is fine. I am for ANYTHING that can help a woman to defend herself. That being said i am kind of surprised that they program it to call friends and family but can't set it up to call 911? Sounds kind of weird. Of course it will take the cops quite a bit of time to get there anyway, but it still strikes me as strange.

i'm going to guess they didn't obtain special permissions to have that capability (yet) ?

maybe pending ironing out some glitches so to speak...

It probably still has issues with false calls, and they probably have to show a false call rate that is acceptable to most 911 standards.

To me, the whole issue isn't what a woman wants to carry (if anything) to protect against attack, it's her choice. It's when government says "you can carry this, so you have no need for a CCW, and we won't give you one because of that" That I have an issue.

the cops have to respond to house alarms that end up being bad calls ~ 90% of the time

so just fyi; If your house is broken into, you are put on the to do list, not the rush there list
