He is so confident in his ability to make a deal he doesn't think he needs a plan and plans are not his forte. He planned to have Mexico pay for the wall, oh well...

He is the high stakes gambler in chief. Kill the deal and hope for the best, what's the worst that could happen? A nuclear arms race?

He MAY be able to negotiate a meeting with NK. Maybe. Look how well he's renegotiated TPP, NAFTA, and the Paris Agreement on Climate.

2) it’s not binding since it was never ratified by the senate

There literally was no binding agreement let alone one trump made

Details, schmetails. Donald is Potus, and he just backed out of a signed and done deal. It sends bad signals ahead of negotiations of the same fucking nature with another nation. NK could reasonably say, “Why should we enter into an agreement with the US when they can’t honor previous agreements?”
