Wade. you will also see a push for prayer in school and push for a personhood law at the federal level. they will try to outlaw gay marriage at the state level and repeal all funding for education from the federal government. the EPA will be gone so our air and water will be dirtier, and the DOE will be gone which will mean there will be no regulating authority for energy in this country. all oil drilling bans will be lifted, and there will be 1 if not 2 major oil spills during the first term of a GOP president. he will extend the war in afghanistand and possibly put troops back in to iraq. he will unilaterally try to repeal obamacare through an executive and bypass congress. tax rates on the wealthy will go down even further, and there will be no taxes on capital gains or estates of any size. medicare, ss and medicaid will be dismantled, and all those who rely on it will immediately be put into poverty.

I think we are still providing gas to the Iraqi at around $2 or less.

That must be what they decided the Iraqi economy could support. That's not fair trade, and the U.S. taxpayer is subsidizing Iraqis getting their own gas! I do not believe the Iraqis refine their own crude. I am not positive, though. So it has to leave the country as oil and come back to them as gas, on our dime.

Why, then, did gas stay pretty much flat through the Bush term (except for the occasional spike or dip), but now doubles since we've left ????

We had $4 gas throughout the spring and summer of 2007. It was very high for a very long time. On the day Clinton left office gas was $1.09 in the Florida panhandle and $.99 over the border in Georgia, which had a lower State gas tax.

And the Iraq War was all about controlling the oil, not pumping it. Look at who has signed the 30 year leases with the new Iraqi government. All the same old names. And these are huge oilfields. If Exxon wanted to pump more, they certainly have the capacity to do so. What does it say then, that they do not pump the oil and get the price down?

I really hate to say it, because it calls for government intrusion on the free market, but there needs to be a way to get these yahoos to do SOMETHING....because what they're doing now just ain't working.
