60's Music

99% of it was garbage, but there are a few classics to be mined. Not really any different than any other decade, except that radio was widespread for the first full decade, car radios got better, so the market was huge and lots of kids with lousy tastes and disposable incomes. Pop got better over the following decades, not worse, despite all the sniveling to the contrary by old dopers and deviants, especially after stereo got cheap. Berry Gordy at Motown judged whether or not a song was ready to be released by listening to it on his car radio; he had a small short range AM station built in his studio and would outside and sit in his car for deciding final approval. The high end bias was prevalent until the end of the decade, hence Smokey and the Supremes, etc. being the top talent there.
