Andrew Breitbart is Dead

might as well close this thread. Some will ghoulishly gloat over his death, while others will express deep sadness. And that's what this whole thread will boil down to. The man was a loving father & husband who fought relentlessly for what he believed in. He will be missed by many. Why don't we just leave it at that, and call it a day? Wadda ya say?
yes.

Charming.... but unsurprising. You never have been very enthusiastic about the first amendment.

interestingly, the first amendment doesn't protect lies

just saying.

Interesting that you would defend those who admit wanting to kill another person, based solely on that person's political views. I would have thought you to be above defending such extremism, mo chara.

I think she was just correcting your uninformed opinion. Somebody has to!

He had heart trouble and in case you didn't notice, he was extremely passionate. He was walking his dog at midnight and dropped dead. And I am sad. Whether you agreed with him or not, he was fighting the good fight for what he believed.
I sincerely hope he did not fall on the dog.

And I sincerely hope that the terror that his wife felt when he didn't return, and the strength she needed to muster in order to shield her kids from the pain wasn't more than she could bear.
I feel badly for his children. That's it.

a lot classier than the rightwingnuts when kennedy died.

no, just about the same

Glad he's Dead?... Wished it was Legal to Kill him?...

I don't Remember ANYONE here saying that about Tedward.

If you got Link, I'd Love to be Proven Wrong.

I am Shocked by what people like Sallow are saying simply because they Disagreed with a Man's Politics and Agenda.

:)

peace...

Actually, Breitbart said much worse about Kennedy on Twitter.

When Salon, Daily Kos, Huff Post, and even Media Matters were able to find something nice to say about Breitbart and be gracious, I am dismayed that some of my fellow USMB members are acting like twerps.

Whatever your political leanings, and whatever you thought of his style, Breitbart was one of the last few remaining brilliant investigative reporters with the courage to go after the stories the rest of the media wouldn't otherwise touch for ideological or political reasons. Just like the Drudge Report, most didn't share his politics or world view, but no media source failed to check his website every day to pick up on what the breaking stories were likely to be.

The nation is poorer for his passing and is likely to be less well educated.

Brietbart was a sleaze and a propagandist.

I wish that it were legal to kill his type. Because I would of in a heartbeat.

Fuck Brietbart.

I'm his 'type'... do you wish you could kill me???
Have you made millions from lying about people?

Is he famous enough to be #2 in the "famous people die in threes" lottery?
Whitney Houston
Davy Jones

I would have included Marie Colvin in the list of famous deaths.... perhaps not well known in the US, but she was an American... a journalist working for the Sunday Times who was killed whilst covering the atrocities in Syria last week.
I notice you don't include Anthony Shadid.

Racist.

where in my post do you see any comment regarding anything but the first amendment issue?

answer: you don't, chica. I was very careful about what i responded to because i neither condone killing nor do i condone lying and an ends justifies the means mentality such as the deceased engaged in.

and i am trying very hard to maintain my usual rule about these things.

even when addressing public figures, however, the first amendment does not protect untrue comments made with actual malice. See, Sullivan v NYT

How do you know? He may have been a wife-beater for all we know.

I searched and didn't see a thread on this already. This was very unexpected. I wonder what happened.

Big Hollywood » Blog Archive » In Memoriam: Andrew Breitbart (1969-2012)

Let me beat all the "internet people" to the punch.

That Kenyan Muslim Socialist in the WH killed him! :cuckoo:
Really? You make up shit that you think he and others said and you call him crazy.

Amazing.

I heard it was heart trouble, but don't let that get in the way of your own special reality.

Awwww. You're sensitive. I'm sorry sweetheart, let me clarify: I didn't say the OP said that. I implied that there will be "internet people" who will say or imply that. Wanna bet as to whether I'm right?

Oh wait! I just looked on the first couple pages... LOL! Looks like I didn't beat them to the punch after all!

Nobody asked me but... one less r-wing extremist nut-job blow-hard. That's all.

Too bad it wasn't Rush Limbaugh. I'll gladly piss on his grave when his time comes.

"Why do you grant a BULLY special status upon his death?"~ Breitbart, on Kennedy's death.
Because Breitbart said nasty things about Kennedy, a public figure since his LONNNNNG time in the Senate, is that any reason to write that you would have killed Breitbart? Brietbart had an audience he wanted to continue following him. That was his job. I've heard worse from other entertainers.

I didn't say that.

you're not an "entertainer" when your job is to effect policy.

this is not an "entertainer" with an opinion...

Breitbart's job was to effect policy? How so?
