Brother Jesse talks about an important answer given by Reggie Jackson to a simple question from Alex Rodriguez about being in the Major Leagues. Jackson chronicles the racism he was forced to endure at the hands of White people throughout his career.

Reggie Jackson is younger than my father, and I'm not even 50 yet!!

This answer should be instructive for people who stupidly argue that racism hasn't existed in America for a long time and act as though it is ancient history.

America wasn’t the only country in the world with bigotry.

Stop using these events of the past as a weapon to gain advantage over people that don’t look like you. It’s despicable. Has anybody on this message board done anything wrong to Reggie Jackson? Are you going to talk about the injustices against people all throughout the world throughout history or just in America?

You do not deserve millions of dollars in handouts(reparations) because of your skin color. You don’t deserve an easier access to a job or a college degree because of your skin color.

Equality must prevail

Btw allegedly you are a gay white guy in your 70s with eight or nine accounts on this site

No, we weren't the only country with bigotry. We did do it better than anyone else.

No one is using any of this to gain an advantage over anyone. It is to tell the truth about how things were. Some of the greatest athletes at the time were refused basic services because of their race.

Well, I highly doubt that. Considering the actions of the empire of Japan and the third Reich. Slavery existing in parts of Africa up until the 1930s. No, we did not do bigotry better than any other country. Arguably the USA was the most liberal country in the world throughout its existence.

Ask an Indian What he thinks about the British. That’s just one example of many.

Here in 2024 we should have equality. Not racism from the left or the right. We have widespread racism from the left wing against white Christian men in this country. Major organizations, media outlets, Hollywood all giving easier access to people based on being a so-called minority. So much for meritocracy.

The sooner we have equality, the better off we will all be.

Those who were refused jobs or access to college might make the claim it is owed because it was denied.

It’s too broad of an issue because all throughout the world folks were discriminated against in the 20th century

There are horror stories going right now in parts of the 3rd world. That’s in 2024.

Some people are refused basic services today because of their race.
