1). War is by no means certain. We have the ability to totally dominate the region with overwhelming force.

2). Are you really asking whether Americans would support either America, Syria, Iran or Russia? America MUST protect its allies and assets, which include the Kurds. The Kurds have been our friends forever and they have been royally screwed by all sides over the years. We better not lose them. Assad and Putin would do well to accept the fact that the real enemy is ISIS. However, destroying ISIS in Syria and Mosul will leave Syria fractured and Assad no longer able to govern, so now Russia and their proxy Iran are just drooling now hoping to cut up the pie.
