Colt Manufacturing is considering leaving the state of Connecticut after being thrust into the limelight in the national debate over gun control and the Second Amendment.

Dennis Veilleux, president and CEO of Colt, said that the pro-gun control climate that has emerged from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting has made it difficult to do business in the state of Connecticut, and that the company doesn’t feel welcome despite doing business there for 175 years.

Particularly, proposed legislation by Governor Dannel Malloy has made Colt feel estranged from Connecticut. Such legislation includes a new gun offender registry, an expanded assault weapons ban, ammunition restrictions, and a ban on the purchase of handguns in bulk.

“At some point, if you can’t sell your products … then you can’t run your business,” Veilleux told Fox News. “You need customers to buy your products to stay in business.”

Colt employs roughly 700 workers in Connecticut, and Veilleux wrote in a recent op-ed that he has only considered pulling operations in the state. There are no “definite plans” to do so, he wrote, but if Malloy’s legislation targeting AR-15 rifles goes through, leaving will be a more realistic option, The AR-15 is the centerpiece of Colt’s business.

If Colt does leave, it’s not without options. Several red state governors have approached Veilleux to relocate, envious of the estimated $1.7 billion in annual contribution to Connecticut’s economy.......

What a moron. I've made flight hardware for the Shuttle program. I was also in on the F22 prototype.
And on top of that I made artificial hearts.
We have the best machinist in the country in Houston. And a few lame ones that moved here from up north when their union jobs crapped out. I love listening to them whine about petty shit. But,but....we used to get breaks every two hours. Or my favorite....we didnt have to do that when I was in the union. Bunch of under skilled pansies.

What difference does that make?

Sunshine, warm weather, no state taxes, right to work. We do lag way behind the country in education though, that's why we went blue.

The anger and contempt liberals have for other Americans, is simply astounding. Colt should move elsewhere, and take their Tax dollars with them.

Has Colt apologized to the State of Connecticut yet?

Has Colt apologized to the State of Connecticut yet?
For what??......

We are sorry that we make a profit creating a product that is used to kill children

Just yesterday it was on the local news that a woman driving a Ford SUV did a hit and run that sent a kid to the hospital in critical condition.

So should the Ford Co. apologize to the State of Massachusetts for selling cars and making a profit on something that kills and injures children?? ......

700 workers and 1.7 billion annual contribution to states economy?

Poor,poor gun manufacturers

Can't feel the love?

where is all the sympathy for all the people who will be losing their jobs?

I guess since they aren't government workers and work for a gun company that flies out the window with you who supposedly care more about people

Why stop with Colt?

McDonald's should apologize for making unhealthy food.

Coke and Pepsi and all soft drink producers should apologize for making sugar-laced drinks.

All car manufacturers should apologize for making vehicles that kill adults and children.

Ginsu and Ecco and all other knife makers should apologize for making knives that kill adults and children.

Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft should apologize for making gaming systems that play violent video games and glorify murder and mayhem.

The liberals should apologize for being ignorant morons.

they should just leave and take all the revenue they brought to the state and take to some place else...who wants to stay where a Government doesn't make you feel welcome
