Cross Removed! Town avoids lawsuit and follows the law

VICTORY! How many times we have to go over this. GOVERNMENT in any form may NOT endorse a religion including putting up a religious symbol.
Of course, as the Muslim population continues to increase and subsequently increase demands, such as is being done in Europe, whereby churches are removing crosses so as to not offend the Muslims, there will be less crosses seen, only more Mosques and calling to prayers.
Donald Trump is going to appoint up to 4 Supreme Court justices who will stop this war on religion. ACLU will have no reason to exist anymore in the war against the 1st Amendment.
No, he's not. The Dems have five GOP Senators in their pocket on the issue of religion in the public forum and abortion and gay marriage.

It's sad that some think that was some endorsement of religion. And of course the ACLU was in on this scam.
christian cross on a christmas tree the TOWN that ALL residents pay taxes to. Yep endorsement of religion but government entity.
Hitler hated Christianity too. He thought it was weak, though he did usurp the language to create a following

Did the Government ask to put up a cross? or the towns people? I see, so your saying the town belongs to the government and not the people? Maybe in the future the way to solve the problem will be to start a petition amongst the people or bring it to a vote, then tell the ACLU to shove off if there is only 1 or two people opposed.

Oh, so you are for democracy and getting rid of the EC.

Excellent point, Private citizen should be able to use public property to place a cross. This is not the same as the president telling everyone they must worship Jesus or Mohammed. Just as a student can pray at a school function, so should citizens be able to express their beliefs in public and on public lands that belongs to everyone.

When Putin took over, after the fall of the soviet union, the first thing he did was restore the church.

Did he help build it himself?

The EC is democracy, people still have to vote. It's not pure Democracy because obviously, but it makes sense in a country as geographically large as the US where you don't want one or two Regions dominating the rest of the country.

In the case of a small town wanting to put up a christmas symbol I would think a direct vote or petition would work just fine. There's no need to have an electorial college to decide such a simplistic issue.

Of course, you were obviously joking.

Our history of course shows why the argument "a direct vote or petition would work just fine" is not fine.

The majority cannot impose its religious viewpoint on the minority.

Our new President says Merry Christmas!!

No idea. Its EXACTLY why we have the constitution. To avoid situations like this and when they do arise to have a go to document that states exactly what's to happen.

Very sad that some people are so hateful. I'll say a prayer for you. Bye.
Nothing hateful about following the law and not wanting others religion jammed down our throats. I don't push my religion on anyone I expect the same
There are many who hate this country's history and traditions.
Indeed but this has nothing to do with history or tradition. MANY of our founders were non believers or agnostics. They specifically stated in 1st amendment that no government endorsed religion.

Well this is enforced atheism, so someone's religion IS being forced on everyone else.
WTF?

Who was forced to be an atheist by this??

Who was forced to be a Christian by the cross on the tree?

One snowflake gets offended and an entire town suffers....this is the problem with left loons. People are sick of your whining, bawling and attention seeking and that is exactly what it is. If you don't like it then don't fucking look at it.

They just don't get it and this is why they lost this election. The local community has rights as well but liberals think they know what's best for everyone. Yet they think it's ok for the Muslim call to prayer to sound over predominantly Muslim areas but church bells need to be silenced if they are loud enough to be heard on public land. They are hypocrites.
On what public properties is it ok for Muslims to pray? Which churches had to silence their bells?
