The guy tried to give a lecture to Chinese diplomat during the Arab Strategy Forum and it backfired miserably. Basically this diplomat told him "China won't take lectures from the likes of you" in so many words. He said this in front of many Arab leaders who were in the crowd, even calling out "you tried to make trouble in the Middle East and didn't keep your promises".

It represented what the world thinks about him as a leader and it has hurt the U.S.
