Did Command Sergeant Major Walz serve during wartime?

There is no evidence that Walz timed his departure with the intent of avoiding deployment. But the fact remains that he left ahead of his unit’s departure. In a statement, the Harris campaign pushed back on GOP characterizations of Walz’s service, and also noted that he advocated for veterans once he was elected to the U.S. House.

Harris’ campaign has referred to Walz as a “retired Command Sergeant Major,” one of the top ranks for an enlisted soldier. He did in fact achieve that rank, but personnel files show he was reduced in rank months after retiring. That left him as a master sergeant for benefits purposes.

He never claimed to be a combat vet

Ya know what weapon he was carrying when he was deployed?

An AR which was the point he was making
Yeah he did you liar, that's why his campaign had to trot out the old "he mispoke" little lie!

Not what his fellow soldiers say. Who to believe, them, or some bullshit internet posting?

He achieved a conditional rank of Command Sergeant Major but never met the educational requirements.

There is every evidence that Walz chose retirement in order not to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan.

He also had operational requirements that he had to fulfill, going into a combat zone with his unit was part of that.

Thus he fled.

So long as his national guard unit stayed out of dangerous places he was a brave little soldier.

The second he found out they were headed for a combat zone he ran away.

And all the while he was engaged with the Chinese communist party.
