Does the rest of the world think we are crazy?

America.jpg

The rest of the world thinks the Republicans are both crazy and dangerous. You only have to talk to people who come here from other countries and ask them.

Where I work, 60% of the products are sold overseas so I get a lot of opportunities to talk to Germans, Africans, Japanese, Chinese, Indians and so on. They don't understand how Americans can keep putting stupid people in power. And many don't don't believe that majority of Republicans believe the earth is only a few thousand years old or evolution isn't real. They say only the uneducated or super religious believe that in their country, but they don't believe the Republicans are super religious because they want to bomb other countries and they hate the poor.

True story.

They don't understand how Americans can keep putting stupid people in power

i hear ya Dean....we hear that out here about how the jerks that run this State keep getting re-elected....its amazing aint it?....vote for the same people you are bitching about .....so you can bitch about them for another 4 years....

the ones who put hollande in power have absolutely nor intellectual right to question the Americans who put obama into power.
those two are equally stupid.

But the sheeple still elected them :D

We see you lot raising your debt ceiling and we think you are mental. We are interested to see if you will again raise the debt ceiling, which will mean you are in the exact same position in a few years time, or if you will start paying your debts and stop borrowing.

Why does there have to be a downside?

The US used to be the political and cultural leader of the free world. Where did we go wrong?

Why is the rest of the world laughing at us or looking on in shock?

We went wrong when we decided to fall for the wailings of the humanists about the plight of the Libyan rebels. I warned vociferously of how big a mistake that would be back then and how stupid it would be to stick our noses into Khadafy's business, but we barged right ahead anyhow. To that point, our wars were vaguely justified, but we had absolutely no right whatsoever to destroy that small, impoverished country.

Why the U.S. government is shut down: 5 theories from abroad - The Week

In an editorial headlined, "Wake up, Jefferson, they've all gone mad!" France's Le Monde writes: "There's no rational explanation for the Tea Party's actions. It's pure hatred of the president, a conception of politics as permanent civil war."

For the French, ObamaCare is not the real issue. "This is the pretext chosen by the core extremist, fundamentalist, the Republican Party, the Tea Party, to sabotage President Obama. This reflects a growing polarization of American public life to shame the Founding Fathers of this great Republic."

WHO CARES what Le Monde thinks?

They seem to understand our problem better than most Americans

Communist Globalists are very insecure. Always fretting about what the World thinks. It's just not important what others think. Globalism is way overrated. And besides, i'm pretty sure the rest of the World has its own problems to worry about. They shouldn't sit in judgment.

Let's be honest. The rest of the world does not hate America, or think Americans are crazy. Nor is anti-Americanism rampant.

The rest of the world hates Republican Americans, conservative Americans, and righwing Americans of all sorts. Conservative American policies are HATED around the world, and with good reason. Killing people in wars of choice is poor policy. Killing people with lax gun laws and cruel health care policies is poor policy.

Conservatives, the world hates YOU. I agree with the world. Your existence makes the world a worse place than it otherwise would be.

Had the Dems refused to allow just one of Bush's 7 debt limit increases unless Bush compromised on the Iraq War or his tax cuts to the wealthy, the GOP would have peppered the airwaves with claims that shutting the government down would give the terrorists strength. The problem is that the Dems don't have that media power. When the GOP was building a think tank/media empire in the 70s, the Dems were sleeping. Now they have no way of pointing to how both Reagan and Bush increased the debt limit far more than Obama, and increased the deficits far more. The Dems got outplayed. They started losing media control in the 70s and now they are SOL. Paul Krugman no longer gets invited to the Sunday Morning Talk Shows, which have been increasingly populated with powerful Republican voices and Allen Combs style weaklings. The game is over. The GOP didn't have the votes to stop health care, so now they are doing an end-run around the will of the people and Constitution, both of which upheld this law.

all of them or just the Far Right ones?....dont be like Dean....make yourself clear...

 That's just plain craaazy. But hilarious. Globalism is way overrated. One day, even you guys will see that.

Bollocks.

The government controlled media has been carrying water for the messiah big time. They have done everything in their power to make the republicans look bad.

But it would have been great if the democrats had refused to fund the Iraqi and AfPak ventures.

The US is the most powerful nation on earth. Politically, militarily and economically. Everything we do impacts the rest of the world.

What does the world think of us?

1. Politically: The US is unstable. Our government is broken. We cannot accomplish the most simple tasks let alone act as leaders of the free world. We can't pass a budget, agree to keep our government going, agree to pay our debts.

We have had many government shutdowns. in fact the Dems were responsible for some of them. Were you all concerned about the opinion of the rest of the world then too?

2. Justice System: We have more of our citizens in prison than any nation on earth. We are one of the few "civilized" nations in the free world that still relys on capital punishment. We continue a fruitless "War on Drugs" than encourages violence and fills our prisons

I agree with you on this one. Drugs should be if not legal then decriminalized

3. Gun Violence: We have a murder rate three times that of similar nations. We have endured assasinations of our leaders and an endless stream of massacres and yet we show no will to do anything other than accept it

An endless stream of massacres? Really?

And it's not guns. In fact if you remove just 4 or 5 major cities from the count our gun murder rate drops to near the bottom of the list. The problem is with our cities.

4. Environment: We allow science to become a political issue, ignoring scientific reason because it interferes with our politics. 95% of scientists agree that manmade global warming exists and still we treat is as a political threat not a natural threat

When science is used as an excuse to control people then it is a political issue.

And really a couple degree increase in temps is not a "threat"

Education: America used to set the standard for education but we now settle for "good enough". If our students can pass an arbitrary exam, we are satisfied with the level of education. Our students perform poorly when compared to our peers and we are unwilling to do anything about it. Our education system is disjointed and unfocused

Funny how ever since the establishment of the federal Dept of Ed our schools have been in decline. The days you speak of when we led the world were the days before the federal government started meddling in the affairs of the states.

I really don't care what the rest of the world thinks of us. They need to tend to their own rat killin'.
