Erickson On Obamacare: 'We Must Deny Them The Opportunity To Fix The Law Itself

The problem with the Democrats is they suffer from the following illogic:

1. We must do something.

2. This is something.

3. We must do this.

Health care costs in America were outpacing inflation for decades. Something certainly needed to be done.

Our country was fucked in this situation because on one hand, we had a party that did absolutely NOTHING about the problem. That would be the GOP.

On the other hand, we had a party that enacted a government takeover of health care. That would be the Democrats.

Now the party which chose to do nothing is whining about the other party for at least trying to do something.

The Democrats telegraphed over and over and over what they would do if they ever go the chance, and still the GOP did nothing when it had all the power and opportunity to do so. It chose instead to start a couple wars, double the national debt, enact tax cuts, and create a massive new Cabinet level State Security agency. Sieg Heil! But, gee, they just couldn't manage to address the health care crisis, at all.

We got fucked up the ass by BOTH parties. Don't ever kid yourself one of them is the good guy on this issue.
Tough bounce.

The democrats passed that steaming heap on a pure party line vote, locking out any and all republican input or modification. They own it.

That they stole a crappy idea from the republicans and made it their own barely charts on the relevancy meter.

They broke it, they bought it.

Oh bullshit.

Not only did they "steal" it, it was REPUBLICANS that had a shit fit when Obama originally wanted to go single payer. It was REPUBLICANS that rammed it on Democrats. Then! It went to committee. Then! They refused to LET IT OUT OF COMMITTEE.

So seriously..if you are going to talk about this..at least get the facts right.
If republicans had so much input, how does it happen that the bill got no republican votes, and indeed took massive arm twisting and outright bribery from Pelosi and Reid to muster the democrat votes?

I know, it's because the president is black, right?

Complete bunk. I don't know who is pouring this piss, but a lot of rubes keep repeating it.

The law contained Republican amendments. The GOP offered over a hundred amendments.

Something besides MediaMatters or ThinkProgress?

It's fact. Go to the Congressional Record if you don't believe it.

If it's not based on that, what should it be based on? Political affiliation?

Access to basic healthcare regardless of your ability to pay, subsidized by the government, should be a fundamental right in this country similar to the right to a basic education regardless of one's ability to pay.

The free market cannot provide that.

IOW other people should pay for free shit for everyone else.
Yeah, fuck that.

Actually, it is born out by the facts.

The individual mandate was proposed by the right wing Heritage Foundation in 1989: Assuring Affordable Health Care for All Americans.

We then see Republicans swallowed the manna and see the individual mandate proposed by the Senate Republicans as an alternative to HillaryCare in 1993: Health Equity and Access Reform Today Act of 1993

In 2007, Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat from Oregon, introduced the Healthy Americans Act, which was co-sponsored by 20 Republicans and contained an individual mandate.

They were just joking 3 different times, over the span of a decade...get it? :eusa_shifty: *nervous laugh*

And then there is RomneyCare, of course, upon which ObamaCare is based. A totally owned and operated Republican program.

You mean the law passed by the Democratic legislature in the bluest state in the union?

It was okay when Heritage recommended it. It was okay when Senate Republicans proposed it, twice. It was okay when a Republican governor did it. Not only did the Republicans not run that guy out of town, they rewarded him by making him their nominee for President!

But when Obama did it, OH HELL NO!

Success has many fathers. Failure is an orphan.

It is hysterical to watch the leftards here try to suggest the GOP had anything to do with this monstrosity.
The Democrats wrote the bill. The Democrats closed negotiations. The Democrats used every dirty trick to pass it. There was not a single GOP vote anywhere for this turd.
The Dems own this shit. Good luck with that.

Erickson has never been elected to office. He doesn't claim to be a spokesman for a political party. Why does the low information left think a fabricated fake quote alleged to him is a political issue? The crazy left is desperate. They will lie, cheat and believe anything that keeps their hatred boiling.

You should probably read some federal laws before making such boneheaded statements. They all contain provisions requiring the Executive branch to create and/or modify federal regulations.

SCOTUS ruled it was a tax. So POTUS can singlehandedly change the tax code?

All of ObamaCare is a tax? Who was talking about a tax? This is about regulations.

Obama is authorized to change those regulations assigned to the Executive branch.

Like I said, read some federal laws sometime.

The black letter of the law states that there are deadlines for implementation. Nowhere does it give the president discretion in implementing provisions.
Read the law.

GOP Amendments to ACA. That's an Excel spreadsheet.

Disclaimer: This is an incomplete list. Of the 788 amendments filed, only 437 appear here. And of the 161 GOP amendments passed or accepted, we have confirmed only 80 as such. We hope to update the document as more information becomes available.

That said, some context: Of the 788 amendments filed, 67 came from Democrats and 721 from Republicans. (That disparity drew jeers that Republicans were trying to slow things down. Another explanation may be that they offered so many so they could later claim—as they are now, in fact, claiming—that most of their suggestions went unheeded.) Only 197 amendments were passed in the end—36 from Democrats and 161 from Republicans. And of those 161 GOP amendments, Senate Republicans classify 29 as substantive and 132 as technical.

Now stop drinking the piss.

Yeah..basically.

But to a larger extent it was because he wasn't republican.

Shortly after inauguration, republicans held a meeting who's focus was to make Obama a one term President.

This isn't really all that new..but it is the first time they were so zealous about it.

Conservatives closed the government on Carter, Clinton and Obama.

They impeached Clinton and have been trying to do so with Obama.

Government doesn't work so well when you have people on one side only willing to cooperate if they hold all the marbles.

Putting squarely on display, Liberals will work with Conservatives on sound ideas, even if they have reservations about them.

^ racist

I have peer reviewed this post and find it 100% awesome

Medicare Part D (Republican Big Gov't program) had a rocky start but Dems helped the poor Repubs "fix it". One minute mark and the 2:30 mark:

Dem Rep. Bill Pascrell Jumps Out of Chair, Explodes at GOP'ers During Obamacare Hearing - YouTube

Now that we have a Democratic President AND he's African American? OH HELL NO!!! :eusa_hand: He's on his own. No matter, as was mentioned, he can make Executive changes to the law. :afro:

All that guy did is blubber about how the Republicans weren't passing socialized medicine. What did the Dims offer as "fixes" to Medicare Part D?" Nothing that I'm aware of.

To put on a show for rubes like you who are so unbelievably ignorant of what actually occured! You believe a ridiculous lie about Republicans not having any input! Only someone who has no clue about what went on would actually believe that. When you repeated that lie, you did not realize you had just betrayed your total ignorance of this subject.

You are nothing more than a talking point parrot. A useful idiot.

If the truth be known, Sallow......a Bill that was a single payer wouldn't have come close to muster the votes needed to pass it. But, you go ahead with your drivel, it's expected from you. :eusa_whistle:

Liberals may, but Obama won't....Obama will only go along with tweaks that bend toward a single payer system....which you and I know is what he wants.
With what is happening now regarding all the carve outs, this Bill is nothing more than a political tool. true story

Single payer is an inevitability now. In our lifetimes.

The GOP sold us all down the river by their inaction. All the current blustering by them is just smoke and mirrors to keep the rubes ignorant of this.

RomneyCare, and the selection of Romney as the GOP nominee, tell you everything you reallly need to know. All the rest is theater.

When you look in the window, you can't tell the difference between the men and pigs any more. Two legs good, four legs bad.

As the statement says, it is an incomplete list. However, it goes on to say that of 197 amendments passed, 161 were from Republicans.

Regardless, incomplete list or not, it blows the "no Republican input" talking point meme parroted by rubes clear out of the water and around the moon.
