What the heck, is PC quoting herself from one of her crazy past threads? The definition of native is easy enough to look up. If the people who lived here in North America were born here, they were natives. As far as genocide goes, scholars debate the topic and the debate always hinges on what definition is used to define 'genocide'. If the definition of genocide being a government or authority committed to cleansing an entire group of people down to the last man, woman and child, the definition would probably only apply to genocide against specific tribes by the early colonist. If the definition is that genocide includes a committed effort to dramatically reduce a population, the US government can be judged guilty of genocide.

The modern world accepts the definition of genocide being a commitment to reduce a population dramatically and an effort to a limited reduction of an area's population, even if it only includes the men and teenage boys.
Serbian leader Radovan Karadzic was found guilty of Bosnian genocide just two days ago and sentenced to 40 years, probably equal to a life sentence for a man his age. This occurred just two days ago in the international court and detail of his conviction are in the current news.

Slavery was a huge issue during that convention, and many of the Founding Fathers wanted it outlawed, but ran into an impasse after many hours of debate with the southern colonies whose agricultural productivity depended on it.

The Founders who wanted to set the stage for the abolition of slavery came up with a compromise involving the issue of apportionment.

The southern colonies that favored slavery wanted all residents of their states, slave and free, counted equally when it came to deciding how many seats they were going to receive in Congress. Some of the northern colonies, who mostly had few slaves and thus nothing to lose didn’t want slave residents counted at all.

The Founder’s compromise was to count each slave as 3/5 of a man for the purposes of apportionment, and when that passed after a great deal more debate and lobbying, legislators from the slave states were permanently limited to a minority. With that one stroke, the state was set for slavery’s eventual demise, and the proof of how effective it was came in 1804, when the slave states were powerless to stop Congress from outlawing the importation of slaves to the new nation.

The stage was set, even if it took 70 years and a bloody war.

So long as we learn the real truth about the history of the slave trade. Every group (color of skin etc) have been enslaved at some point.

Want to learn about the trans-sahara/Atlantic slave trade? Want to? No? Thought not.

Then again, there is a distinct possibility that you do not know the slave trade in western Africa was about 700 years old before the Europeans got involved with the Atlantic trade.

Meaning, most of the slaves were already slaves and we're indeed enslaved by black muslims.

What the heck, is PC quoting herself from one of her crazy past threads? The definition of native is easy enough to look up. If the people who lived here in North America were born here, they were natives. As far as genocide goes, scholars debate the topic and the debate always hinges on what definition is used to define 'genocide'. If the definition of genocide being a government or authority committed to cleansing an entire group of people down to the last man, woman and child, the definition would probably only apply to genocide against specific tribes by the early colonist. If the definition is that genocide includes a committed effort to dramatically reduce a population, the US government can be judged guilty of genocide.

The modern world accepts the definition of genocide being a commitment to reduce a population dramatically and an effort to a limited reduction of an area's population, even if it only includes the men and teenage boys.
