Anyone earning below the poverty rate should pay no taxes. In fact, employers who pay employees less than the poverty line should just not withhold taxes and save themselves along with the government, the money of accounting for that income.

Everyone making over the poverty line should pay 10%. That is it. No loopholes, no deductions. A flat 10%. That is the very definition of fair.

You do realize that income taxes are paid on PROFIT and not on ones revenues that they take in, don't you?

INCOME means PROFIT, not what income we take in when we draw a salary....

the INCOME TAX = a PROFIT TAX

so if 47% of this country owes no taxes, this is because they did not make a profit that year for the most part....

Just as 2 companies, both having $1 million in total revenues for the year, but once all expenses are deducted, 1 company made no profit and owes ZERO in income taxes and the other company did make a profit and owes $100,000 in taxes

the definition of INCOME is PROFIT....the income tax is a tax on ones profit, if you don't make a profit you don't pay income taxes/Profit taxes, this means that the wealthiest or top 10% MADE THE MOST PROFIT, therefore they paid the most in taxes....

SIMPLE as that....

People are under the false assumption the INCOME TAX means salary or the money the family made that year and IT IS NOT....the INCOME that is TAXED is ONLY the PROFIT from all the wages and other earnings one takes in....

JUST LIKE businesses or corporations pay corporate income taxes on their PROFIT only, we as individuals are income taxed on our profit only.

Wow - that is an astounding display of ignorance. Income has nothing to do with "profit". The government taxes you even if you borrow/spend more than you earn. So if you racked up $10,000 in credit cards this year, you show NO profit. In fact, you're at a LOSS. But every dime of your income is still taxed.

So you think that money management skills are something that the vast majority of Americans are good at eh? Got any proof of that. Or are you just dreaming?

My observations as a mortgage loan officer for 18 years were that the majority of citizens sucked at managing their money. But granted, I wan't talking to millions of Americans.

I am sure your experience is much different. What do you do that makes you think our fellow citizens are good at managing money?

No, social security is a service that the government provides for you that allows you not to have to fuck with putting money aside, and managing it, etc., your whole working life. And they do it in a highly efficient manner.

I've been getting SS for a short time and it pays my bills. My 2 pensions pay for my fun. I am very thankful the government took that money out of every paycheck I ever earned.

If it is a "service" why am I forced into it?

Also, if the federal government is sooooo good at managing money, why are they $17 trillion in debt?

The Fair Tax does that. First, it does not withhold any money from anyone's paycheck. Second, everyone gets a refund on the amount of tax you would pay on income up to the poverty level. So no one pays taxes on what it takes to survive.
