What for heavens sake is able to spy a baloon in the atmosphere over the USA what no one is able to see much more easy with a kind of satellite-"google"-technology? I heard with a modern satelite someone is able to read also in a newspaper of anyone who sits anywhere in the world in his own garden and reads this newspaper.

The problem is not to spy. The problem is what to spy. The USA for example spies in every phone in the world. That's why you need for example big-data-sytems and machine learning (AI). Known are such totally senseless but nevertheless extremly dangerous stupid systems under the expression "Big brother is watching you".

Short of sending some high-energy pulse to knock out the electronics, they would have needed a LOT of jammers since a radio jammer is only effective in a straight line at least 20° above the horizon and the thing flew from Montana down to the Midwest and across out over S. Carolina.

Was it ground-based or was it mobile and followed the balloon from one side of the country to the other?

That would have been a good, though costly option.

Since the balloon was up at 60K feet, above airline traffic altitude, did tgey coordinate with FAA on the spectrum of signals / bands rhey were jamming?
- Has anyone confirmed this with the FAA?

More good questions. If the jamming was ground-based, any flight which flew into the path of the jamming signal would have encountered severe flying problems and disruption, perhaps beyond the ability of the onboard avionics to recover from.

Slow moving, low altitude (relative to satellites) balloons actually make perfect sense if you can get away with it. This wasn’t a weather balloon. This was controllable and had propulsion. It had an apparatus the size of a school bus attached. It was much closer to the survellience targets than satelilites. It is a no brainer that it is actually better than satellites in many ways, but it isn’t a normal survellience method because it is easily detected and easily taken out. It is not usually worth the effort. They took a calculated risk that this administration is incompetent and wimpy enough to actually allow it to cross the US and even pause over critical sites. They were correct.
