Gasoline Below $3.00 A Gallon; Thank You Mr. President

It's actually below $2.90 a gallon in SW Houston.

Obama's Fault.

Here are some examples of Obama's "leadership."

“It would be nice if we could produce our way out of this problem, but it's just not possible. … [C]onsumers need to get serious about buying hybrid cars[.]” (2/28/06)

“[W]e should just replace the use of oil altogether as America's fuel of choice.” (5/11/06)

“[T]he Republican leadership in the Senate believes we can solve our energy problems by just drilling more. That's not only dishonest – it’s a disservice to our constituents …. [The Republicans’] bill continues to lull the American people into thinking that we can drill our way out of our energy problems. We can't[.]” (8/1/06)

“[M]oving away from an oil economy is a major challenge that will require a sustained national commitment.” (9/20/06)

“The hard truth is the only way to, over the long term, reduce gas prices is to reduce demand.” Later, to an audience member: “What kind of car do you drive? An Escalade!? This is what I’m talking about [as the problem] right here.” (3/22/08)

“We should also be investing in new technologies so we can replace the internal combustible engine, which has served us well, but it's time for us to move on, because we want to get rid of fossil fuels.” (4/1/08)

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times…” (Agence France-Presse, 5/19/08)

“Long-term, though, the only way we're going to deal with these high gas prices is if we change how we consume oil.” Then, when asked if high gas prices could help America to transition to alternatives: “I think that I would have preferred a gradual adjustment.” (CNBC, 6/10/08)

“Believe me, if I thought there was any evidence at all that drilling could save people money … by this summer or this year or even the next few years, I would consider it. But it won’t.” (6/20/08)

“What I will not do, and this has always been my position, is to support a plan that suggests this drilling is the answer to our energy problems. … It won't drop prices in this administration or in the next administration or in the administration after that.” (CNN, 8/2/08)

“[T]hat’s part of the reason you never heard me say, ‘Drill, baby, drill’ – because we can’t drill our way out of the problem.” (5/27/10)

“[W]e can’t just drill our way out of the problem.” (5/6/11)

“Now, some politicians always see [high gas prices] as a political opportunity. … [T]hey’re already dusting off their three-point plans for $2 gas. I’ll save you the suspense: Step one is drill, step two is drill, and step three is keep drilling. … Well the American people aren’t stupid. … You know there are no quick fixes to this problem, and you know we can’t just drill our way to lower gas prices.” (Tampa Bay Times, 2/23/12)

“Anyone who tells you we can drill our way out of this problem doesn't know what they're talking about, or isn't telling you the truth.” (Reuters, 3/1/12)

“[W]hy is it that every year we hear the same story about how we’re going to have $2 gas, or $1.50 gas, or whatever price they come up with, if we would just drill for more oil? That’s the solution that you always hear. Prices will immediately come down and all our problems will go away – like magic. … We can't simply drill our way out of the problem.” (3/22/12)

It's low now, but wait until another boom occurs and gas also booms back into prices higher than what you pay now, because, of capped oilfields and closed oil companies....The state run oil entities will have the advantages....

That may happen, but when the Republicans get the Presidency we will finish the XL pipeline and get shale oil from No Dakota and Canada to take up the slack.

There is no slack, the oil fields are laying off......and there is already oil pipelines to N. Dakotas to the gulf of Texas or other refining destination points...Now that the oil ban on exporting US oil is over, the pipeline is going to want to keep Canadian oil out...Plus the Alberta boom in oil is now a bust what with most of the tar sands there already having been depleted...

The United States gets nothing out of the XL pipeline. Most Canadian oil is already sold to the USA, the XL pipeline would just be used to sell Canadian oil internationally so it could be priced more competitively.

If anything the XL pipeline would've "hurt" the USA by making Canadian oil more expensive since we'd have to compete for it with China and Europe.

We did not allow oil exports until December of 2015....There was a ban on them since Nixon was president...

It is a helluva lot cheaper and considerably safer to bring oil to the US from Canada in a pipeline than in a tanker truck or train. Of course adding more oil to the world market ALWAYS brings the price down in the real world.

Anything that lowers our balance of payments and increases our GDP is a good thing.

The price of gasoline has remained low due to Obama's Leadership. Thanks you Mr. President and Happy New Year to you and your wonderful family.

Somehow the fact that Obama stated he wants higher gas prices gets overlooked. That's par for the course for a full fledged libtard troll.
You, like many rubes, do not understand the irony of this thread......it's a sucker thread,, and you are another sucker...

Uh, I give you real irony and you give me jibberish irony while your crony boy thanks you.

The actual culprits are OPEC. Worries over increased production in the US caused the group to ramp up output thus lowering oil prices per barrel. I'm all for cheap gas but not at the price of OPEC holding us by the short and curlies.
We need to place high tariffs on foreign oil and increase production here in the US. Let the CONUS producers compete with OPEC. This creates jobs for the homeland and keeps foreign countries from strangling us.

Russia just posted it's largest increase in oil production...

The only thing Obama got stopped was the XL pipeline and drilling for oil on public land. The oil companies developed fracking on private land and increased the supply of oil and gas to the world market driving down prices. You are thanking the wrong people.
it's funny, bush had one spike year with high prices, Obama has had one low year. this nitwit can't even control what is going on in America and pin head liberals actually think he can control what goes on globally.

Development of fracking was paid for with a series of GOVERNMENT GRANTS. Do a little research.

It's still 45% higher than when he took office and forced the price up with his green energy scam.
You should not be allowed to vote.
National Average

1/19/2009: $1.85
1/03/2016: $1.992

An increase of 7.7%.

And that $1.85 when Bush left office was artificially low because we were neck deep in recession.

The only thing the government did was get out of the way.

"Despite a history that can be traced back to the 1940s, hydraulic fracturing had not been utilized on a massive scale until 2003, when energy companies began actively expanding natural gas exploration with an emphasis in shale formations in Texas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Wyoming, Utah and Maryland.

Expansion was aided by a landmark study conducted by the EPA in 2004 which found that hydraulic fracturing posed no threat to underground drinking water supplies. Shortly afterwards, hydraulic fracturing was exempted from the Safe Drinking Water Act by the Bush administration in the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
