Hard Work and Attitude Determines Your Altitude...ZIP Code Doesn’t Matter

At 85 I cross country ski 10 kilometers every other day and still lift....but I surely couldn't fight for a cause..
That's great. I still build houses at 55, never quit being in motion.
I kept building until 66. Then I fell through a roof and that was all.
I am all about safety, especially with the heights these beach houses reach. No dare devil stuff allowed on my crew.
No swinging from a rope to nail a sideboard like here in hillbilly land?

Smart. You are responsible for your own safety. Satisfaction of clients a distant second on these issues.
Yes, my first job was a nightmare, guards on the saws and nailguns tied back, nails sticking out of boards, debris lying around, drinking at lunch, minor injuries all the time and above all a shit egotistical prick boss. I run a tight ship.

No, I do not make anyone do anything I would not do myself.

Hard work will only get one so far. Being willing to tell an employer to stick it for a better job is necessary. No notice necessary.

When I was younger, I would work for a contractor until I went from saying "They need to do something" to saying "we need to do something". At that point I realized I had worked for them too long, and it was time to make a change. I realized I wasn't working for them, I was working for me, and they just happened to be who was paying me at that time.

When I started we still worked like it was the 1920's...

You zip code doesn’t determine your chance of success in America. Adults in your society should not act like common savages. History has shit to do with it. 2019? Your a victim? My fucking ass.
Hard work, once as American as apple pie
Preach

My zip code was the Hutchinson State Penitentiary in 1986

In 2019 my zip code is 6 figures in Kansas City Missouri.

There are no excuses for failure that aren't apparent without looking in the mirror in your bathroom.

I wish I had my health back so I could race through it all over again and live that big pocket fun...

That's true but there are the people who are practically enslaved by dependence on employer based health insurance. I wonder how many people would quit their shit job tomorrow if they knew their kids were covered.
Never heard of cobra?

COBRA is a temporary insurance for 18 months and can be renewed once. Premiums are not shared with your former employer and will cost 100% plus 2% for administrative costs.

I know. My point is that you have an alternative until your new insurance kicks in when you change jobs. You just have to plan for it.

Lynn Cheney can munch my working-class ass. Americans have an excellent work ethic if you pay them a decent wage and don't treat them like garbage.

Most do. Count Democrat votes. They are the ones who do not.

You've never heard of redlining? Note below, these are not allegations, they are proven practices and policies, often designed specifically to further marginalize black and impoverished Americans

In the United States and Canada, redlining is the systematic denial of various services to residents of specific, often racially associated, neighborhoods or communities, either directly or through the selective raising of prices. While the best known examples of redlining have involved denial of financial services such as banking or insurance,[2] other services such as health care[3] or even supermarkets[4] have been denied to residents. In the case of retail businesses like supermarkets, purposely locating impractically far away from said residents results in a redlining effect.[5] Reverse redlining occurs when a lender or insurer targets particular neighborhoods that are predominantly nonwhite, not to deny residents loans or insurance, but rather to charge them more than in a non-redlined neighborhood where there is more competition.[6][7]

In the 1960s, sociologist John McKnight coined the term "redlining" to describe the discriminatory practice of fencing off areas where banks would avoid investments based on community demographics.[8] During the heyday of redlining, the areas most frequently discriminated against were black inner city neighborhoods. For example, in Atlanta in the 1980s, a Pulitzer Prize-winning series of articles by investigative reporter Bill Dedman showed that banks would often lend to lower-income whites but not to middle-income or upper-income blacks.[9] The use of blacklists is a related mechanism also used by redliners to keep track of groups, areas, and people that the discriminating party feels should be denied business or aid or other transactions. In the academic literature, redlining falls under the broader category of credit rationing.
