He has a lot of good friends in the community, upstanding citizens, which can help prevent him from recidivism. Mr. Stone didn't have a fair trial, at least one of the jurists was prejudiced against him because of their partisan bent. Further, the warrants used to launch the whole Stone investigation may have been flawed, as they were based upon lying statements to get the court to issue them. That would make the whole event "fruit from a poisoned tree" and exonerate Stone.

Roger Stone is definitely a Tremendous American. Some people may have forgotten it, but Mr. Stone was behind the Killian Letter scheme that took down Dan Rather in 2004.

He realized that Rather and Mapes had so much hate for Dubya, that they would air the phony documents without vetting them, because they were so damning.
