I want it back: it was Camelot

With "loyal opposition" like the Repugs, who openly undermine, oppose, disparage, and obstruct anything and everything he tries to accomplish - who needs enemies? It isn't poor leadership skills. Repugs simply won't accept that Obama is the duly elected leader.

bullshit...Clinton had plenty of opposition from those asswipes and he managed to keep the gap between the 2 parties from splintering like this guy and Bush have let happen....Bush and Obama are the first 2 Presidents that i have experienced that seemed to be just talking to the People who support them, everyone else ....fuck you.... that's ...piss poor leadership skills.....

. Repugs simply won't accept that Obama is the duly elected leader.

what does that mean?....that everyone is supposed to follow the guy even if you don't want what he wants?......just let him decide?....that's what guys like Franco and Lakota do....and the hacks on the right did it with Bush....

Were you alive during the Clinton administration? Republicans tried to destroy his presidency just like they are trying to destroy Obama's presidency. They put his entire life under a microscope and endless investigations. Then they impeached him. If anything, they were even bigger assholes then, if that is even possible.

What I mean is that Repugs need to let the man do his job. They don't like his proposals? Fine, vote against them, but at least let things come up for a vote. It would be nice if they would work on jobs like they promised to do instead of devote all their time and energy in muckraking, investigating, and naysaying.

You lying fuck head Clinton and Newt were tight. I know damn well you were born in 1996.... Newt had to do what he had to do.

It is the same if you're not a brainwashed racist. The question is, what happened to the GOP? LOL OMG what a bunch of greedy idiot mega rich liars and propagandists and silly 50% racist hater dupes....

Really? Please link to some JFK speeches where he declared private citizens who disagreed with his policies to be enemies.

The only reason you believe Obama has is you're duped by the gigantic, disgraceful Pub Propaganda Machine, hater dupe....Course they can call him a marxist Muslim non American , no problem. You're unbelievable chumps of the greedy idiot rich, shyttehead LOL

OOOOOHHHHH NOOOOOOZE !!!!! IT'S THE VAST RIGHTWING CONSPIRACY !!!!!!
Says the guy whos prez used the IRS as a tool to suppress votes....

I want people back that I knew as Democrats. I want good men and women who believed in chasing a dream. I want my liberals back.

I want Camelot not Communist dreams. I want real hope and change not dime store bullies from Chicago.

I want the real deal.

I was alive back then..

And back folks like you were calling John F. Kennedy a communist that took orders from the Pope.

Not much has changed.

You folks still have some really disgusting views.

I was alive back then too. I was a mega lib. Hell's bells as a teenager I campaigned for Pierre Elliot Trudeau. Farther left than any President you've had.

So you can go fuck yourself because I wasn't part of "people like you". I admired the Kennedys greatly at the time. JFK was inspiring.

My family was so smitten with the Kennedys that on every trip back from Florida we made the annual pilgrimage to Arlington so my family could weep at their graves.

Never a fan of Teddy's but Bobby was my favorite.

I still don't understand how any self respecting Democrat could admire Bill or Bernadine who dedicated Prairie Fire to among others Sirhan Sirhan Bobby's assassin.
To me there were two JFK's, the one before the assignation and one after. Prior to the assassination he was a charismatic president, and an idealist. Most of his domestic legislation was blocked by republicans. The Bay of Pigs was of course a disaster and lack of a clear policy on Viet Nam led to the most tragic military campaign in our nations history. He was hated throughout most of the South because of his stand on segregation and he was surrounded by scandal through out his term in office.

However, with his death everything change. Johnson was able to push through congress the Civil Rights Act, Medicare, the Voting Act, Peace Corp funding, funding for the space programs, and just about every program that he had envisioned. He accomplished much more in his death than he ever accomplished in his life.

JFK dreamed big. And he was inspiring. He touched a whole generation of young people to believe anything was possible.

That you could even put a man on the moon. :eusa_angel: Talk about a dream. And it did come true didn't it now?

Wait what?

Do you know what you are talking about?

The whole impeachment thing started because Gingrich thought he was slighted on a trip to North Korea, ON AIRFORCE ONE, because he was made to sit in the back of the plane.

They weren't "tight".

And Gingrich put into motion the dysfunction we see in today government.

But you probably don't want the tax rates of Camelot.

Or, to put it another way, you want Camelot but you don't want to pay for it.

The criminal enterprise of the Kennedy brothers is an example of what happens when the media becomes a part of the administration. Camelot was a myth and while the media is desperate to create a myth out of the B. Hussein administration it seems that Americans are better informed than they were when Cronkite was king.

Yea, I so want it back also.... all we have now is assholes...

Instead of Statesmen, we have self centered self involved politicians.

telling it like it is?.....a "leader" does not alienate half the people he is supposed to be "leading".....unless he ...
A-has piss poor leadership skills or....
B- he only sees himself as the "leader" of only those who follow him.....
which is it?.....i go with A.....

You know how people know who a leader is?

Because he's got the people following him.

Whoops, that wouldn't be the big 0.

I'm not talking about a "fiscal Camelot". Not at all. It was the Camelot of dreams. Dreams held by JFK, Reverend King and RFK.

Although I've become conservative over the years the inspiration to live by the Golden Rule and dedicating time and effort towards in my case conservation (water conservation has been a biggie for me since the '70's) and human rights issues.

So many kids today don't even know or care to know about politics or fighting the good fight to make the world a better place.

JFK, MLK and RFK inspired my generation.

I can't blame the youth of today though for not being into politics. Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell aren't inspiring figures at all.

Yep. I can remember the days of mourning following his death. Most people seem to think with his death his dreams died, but they were so wrong.

If a Democrat today ran and won on JFK's 1960 platform, I'm virtually certain every rightwinger in this thread would shit his or her pants.

I wish people could take the politics out of the discussion of Kennedy;I know, I know I'm dreaming now and just look at him as an inspirational figure when we're talking about "Camelot".

JFK made us believe we could all become "Don Quixote" in our own right. And always dream the impossible dreams.

I wasnt alive with JFK. What exactly was this amazing dream you all seem enchanted with.

Everything I can see while looking at history is that Kennedy was overrated and Camelot was a media construct.

Well, I was there; I remember The Day very well.

However, I'm not much of a JFK fan, having wept in terror through the whole Cuban Missile Crisis.

But I will say, Kennedy was not fool enough to get us into Vietnam -- he expressly disclaimed it -- and he was I hope not fool enough to corrupt and twist Martin Luther King's ideas into the quotas and required outcomes of The Great Society:

-- that took Lyndon Johnson, the 20th century's worst all-time president. Kennedy was a lot better than Johnson, who was seriously bad for us and has caused all of the race problems we have had since with his truly bad ideas. So it was a dark day when Oswald shot Kennedy. We could have avoided Vietnam and also all the affirmative action evils if we had avoided Johnson. It would be a whole lot stronger country now.
