It May Be Time for the 25th Amendment Solution

Given the reports coming out of the White House and the TImes Op-Ed...it certainly looks like we have a President with severe mental issues.

I don't relish the idea of Pence...but at least he's not a raving lunatic
what hasn't he done to help the country? name something.
Being batshit crazy doesn't help anyone

It's not helping you in the least.
Noooo...a Trumper too stupid to do anything but hurl insults??

How unusual

Sorry the 25th Amendment is not used to soothe election loss butthurt you don't like the current President you will have your chance to do something about in November of 2020.

Or we do something now...

Here's the thing. Republicans hate Trump just as much as Democrats do.

They are just waiting for the opportunity to turn on him.

Except we don't use the 25th Amendment because we don't like the President of the moment I didn't like Obama or his policies I thought then and still do he is as phony as a three dollar bill. Despite how I felt about him when he was President I made no moronic calls to try and remove him from office when 2012 came I cast my ballot the election didn't go how I wanted but I delt with it and accepted the fact he was going to be President for another four years that is what adults do and it's something those going on about impeachment and invoking the 25th Amendment need to start acting like.

Of course we needed a good president after bush Jr but you nominated Obama over Hillary and this is what you get out of pay back ..

So you're saying you understand what a fuck up Trump is but it's not your fault because

Obama?

Oooookayyyy

and if Trump wasn't acting like a crazy person, no one would be calling for a 25th Amendment solution. This is what you guys don't seem to get.

Trump's BEHAVIOR is why we think the 25th is appropriate here. He clearly suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder (A textbook case) and Senile dementia.

Here's the thing, you whine all day about how we want to "overturn the election". But the reality is, no such thing would happen.

If Trump were determined to be unfit, then Pence would become President. It might even improve his chances of getting re-elected in 2020, as he would be seen as someone who helped heal the country in the wake of the Crisis. (Look how close Jerry Ford got to getting re-elected.)

President Pence might even be a worse deal for Democrats, because he'd know how to get things done.

And you know what, I'd be fine with that. I'd be fine going to be at night knowing that the Nuke button isn't right next to the twitter feed.

I relish the idea of Pence.

He is a good man.

From those that I have spoken to...it appears that they like his bombast and bullying

I was referring to elected Republicans, not rank and file types.

But you have a valid point. After 8 years of being made to feel guilty about their racism every time they ripped on Obama for no good reason, they have a guy who validates their bigotry.

The GOP has to get rid of Trump.

The 25th Amendment is the best way to do it.

Trump has proved that you can buy the GOP nomination with inherited money.

That's truly unfortunate.

Obama was not insane nor mentally retarded.

He was just a card carrying liberal.

Nothing really wrong with that.

That's not the issue.

Trump is certifiably crazy.

This is the issue.

Except his staff doesn’t think that

Well, according to Woodward and the guy in the NYT, they do.

We were never given a good president as an option

Hillary would have been a perfectly fine president. So would have most of the 16 guys the GOP rejected over Trump.

I am so thankful those other 16 guys and Hillary didn't win.
The only reason Trump won is precisely because Hillary ran.

But now there is a madman in the White House.

That needs to be fixed.

Trump hijacked the GOP and that needs to be fixed too.

Kasich or Bush should have been the POTUS. But Pence will likely be the next one if the GOP can extricate Trump.

My fear is that Pence does not have the guts to invoke the 25th Amendment on Trump even though it is well deserved by Trump.

But we shall see.

Have any of you whining Snowflakes ever READ the amendment?

Well, here it is:

Section 1. In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Section 3. Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.[3]

It ain't as easy as you ninnies think.
