I am from Seattle. It is a fantastic city and very expensive to live in. There are many wealthy people there and many very well to do or 'comfortable' people. It is a very progressive city. I'm sure, in the end, people there do not want to turn it in to a place like France before the revolution, with a great distance between the haves and have nots. No one is going to drive people out of Seattle: it is a very desirable place to live. The wealthy people there will stay there. The wealthy people there are most likely liberals anyway, the people you call 'dumb.' You're a fool.

Ah! Maybe. It has gotten more expensive over the past 20 years. But it remains beautiful. The setting on the Puget Sound and in view of Mount Rainer is wonderful, with Lake Washington too. It has some very nice neighborhoods and lots of wonderful parks along the waterfronts.

Yeah - Portland metro is pretty much half the size of Seattle metro. Population wise within city limits they're real close now Seattle is 704,352 and Portland is 639,863 (that surprised me). Think that metro Portland is around 1.5m and Seattle about 3.5 (counting Tacoma) I do prefer the Portland downtown as you can walk from one end to the other in about 20 minutes, and the neighborhoods are super distinct and have a lot of individual character as you move from one to the next. To be fair, I only ran into 2 or 3 total dickhead execs downtown Seattle. The rest were very nice.

I agree with you on Portland. The downtown area has improved immensely over the past 30 years. The MAX has also improved the area a lot. There are good things about the city. I know people from New York State who have made a life there and really like it. Compard to East Coast cities it is clean and calm. A nice place to live. But I really like being on the water. So Seattle wins. It's water water everywhere. I love the ferries and the islands.
