Eventually the Continental Army was able to match the British Army. But it needed a lot of training in European style warfare from people like the Marquis de Lafayette and Baron von Steuben, both professional military officers. Washington’s officers were largely amateurs and often political appointees the the results were obvious.

Juneteenth is promoted as a holiday to balkanize our society. The slaves were freed with the penning of the Declaration of Independence. Sure, there were steps leading up to that but it signaled a new nation that rejected slavery in it’s founding. It took time to unravel slavery’s tentacles, which had been established since the beginning of human history. The vast majority of slaves in the US had already been freed by Juneteenth. The date only marks the last few bitter Democrats releasing their slaves under the threat of the US military.

July 4th is a race based holiday because only 1 race was freed. July 4th then, is a day of white supremacy. Whatever hate there is for whites is because people like you create it with your silly opposition to anything celebrating to accomplishments of non white people.

You were fine until the last sentence. It was a republican named Thomas Corwin who crafted an amendment that was passed by congress to make slavery constitutional.

Why not? You're celebrating the ending of slavery in the US. If you celebrate and love freedom, surely that should be a holiday for you.
